Just Iraq

I mentioned in the “Sunday Verse 6″ post about the idea of a “just war.”  In my opinion, our entry into Iraq in 2003 was appropriate - a “just war” as the saying goes - and it may be the only war in all of history that was initiated based upon conditions that both sides had agreed to in advance. Lots to agree with here (and as usual, more depth than I see elsewhere).

Not so much 'uncowed' as 'woken from slumber'. The Saudi Ambassador had taken to referring to our capital as 'Londonistan' (intended as a rebuke) as Britain had become a haven where Islamists went unchallenged.

It is interesting to me that the 2005 bombings did little to change attitudes in Britain, but the failed attempt at a repeat shortly afterwards DID. I suppose once the country realised that we had our very own mass movement rather than a small group of lunatics, that perception was key to change. Multiculturalism survived the bombs, but not the perception of a mass bombing campaign in the offing.

Thus we have been rooting out terrorists and slowly adapting to the truth about our society ever since.

Sorry, I'm not back, despite the enduring excellence of your content. I'm just here to find out what happened to livejournal.com emails - can anybody help?
