But outside of fiction, there have been some good-sized rabbits -- including one island group from a few million years ago
found on Minorca off the coast of Spain:

It seems to me that the suggestions that this creature would have been slow, with poor hearing and eyesight, are on a par with those who asserted confidently that Tyrannosaurus Rex was "only a scavenger." Then they found all of the bite marks, partially healed, of animals that decided that they weren't quite ready to be "scavenged" and were lucky enough to get away.
