On another forum, a friend wrote to complain about writers who start long parenthetical comments, particularly when they forget to finish them. I agreed and replied:

That infects all of us, by degrees

Sometimes sail off that isle

When you're writing, you go with the flows
(And where subcomments stop, no one knows
When you're finished and gone
But you'd quickly moved on
