BP Oil Spill details

Jun 21, 2010 00:33

This is an interesting, and somewhat technical, article on the details of the Deepwater Horizon spill and attempts to cap it. The problem, the writer suggests, goes deeper -- perhaps 1000 feet deeper. Lots of details and links.

I am no fan of BP -- the Climategate letters and other documents have shown them to be pushing hard at the Global Warming business and (with Enron) being a driving force behind the Kyoto treaty. But I'm also thinking that, since the US government makes more from this oil than BP does, and clearly have liability, they should be contributing to that slush fund as well. (The entire fund is a bad idea, in my opinion. Not only is it inappropriate, it was done to get payments happing "fast" but now won't start for "30 to 60 days.")

Even the global warming alarmists, while accepting BP's money, were quick to point out its poor maintenance record before the current spill.
