A happy thought on Barack Obama's presidency

There are signs that the fierce antipathy toward America in the hearts and minds of US journalists worldwide might just be easing.

Why, the New York Times is even suggesting that displaying the American flag is about to become acceptable again.Washington is suddenly hip again, infused with the heady double-barreled combination of a new crowd of ( Read more... )

In my eyes, the MSM is beyond any kind of redemption. I hope they choke to death on their own self-righteous indignity when those for whom they pimped tell them---in no uncertain terms---what they can...and cannot...report.

That's already happening. I was listening to a White House reporter who noted that Obama picked the reporters and questions in advance, and rarely deviated from this practice. She described it as almost a relief, since she and the other reporters now no longer have to tire their arms out by keeping their hands raised.

The show host to whom she was relating this was only very mildly concerned -- and rationalized it all away.

Sad state of affairs. Those people are not reporters; they're political mouthpieces pimping for Big Brother.

More and more of my generation of (retired) newsmen and women are glad to be out of that filth, and are horribly ashamed of the cesspool a once-honorable profession degenerated into.

Do you recall where and when you heard that?

This was on the POTUS08 channel, a purportedly unbiased media channel, on their "Press Pool" segment. It was a couple of days after Obama took a single, unplanned question about Blagojevich. There were no more unplanned questions, according to this reporter -- and that one happened only because it was "rudely" shouted out at Obama.

It is unfortunate.

When you are really convinced your goals are the correct ones, the ability to rationalize the means becomes hyper-developed.

I do strive to avoid this syndrome; aspects of the means annoy me on both sides, though I am clearly in the US conservative camp with regard to most goals.
