Take Your Fandom Home With You Day. (What do you mean that's silly, shut up.)

Mar 28, 2011 13:01

Last night gyzym wrote this adorable thingy where Danny and Steve are living in her home state and doing home state-y things, and it got me to thinking - a few years ago somebody hosted this awesome "Take Your Fandom To Work Day" (which I still want to revive at some point, seriously) where you took your characters and sometimes your canon plots and ( Read more... )

It takes them ten minutes to figure out tokens and Canadian money, the guy who sits next to Scott smells like pee while Alex strikes up a conversation with a nice old man from Guyana who tells him about his father fighting for the British army in World War II, they miss their stop four times, get on the wrong streetcar twice, and learn the ballet of jaywalking and darting between slow-moving cars on the downtown streets.

Chinatown is loud and crowded and full of things Scott has never even seen, let alone known existed. L.A. has a Chinatown as well, but the feel of it is completely different here; more hustle and bustle, more shopping with a purpose because it's too cold to just linger, just wander around, and everyone seems to be on a mission as they head in and out of stores. Toronto has its own rhythm, its own heartbeat, and while Alex seems to be able to dance to it just fine, Scott's having a little difficulty keeping up.

He's exhausted by the time they make it back to the hotel and Alex lets him nap for an hour or two, sacked out on the bed with his coat still on because he was too tired to even attempt to take it off. When he wakes up, Alex is lying next to him, his fingers in Scott's hair and a fond smile on his face. "What?" Scott croaks, and winces at how hoarse his voice is.

Alex leans in and kisses him with a gentleness that Scott rarely experiences. "I'm really glad I'm here with you," he says, sounding so sincere that Scott's heart aches.

"That is so unfair," Scott whines, and Alex laughs and kisses him again, even though Scott's mouth tastes like someone walked all over it with dirty shoes on. "Asshole," he says softly when Alex pulls back.

Alex swipes his thumb against the edge of Scott's jaw. "You still love me."

Scott nods because he can't ever deny this. "I do."

Alex grins. "Does this mean we can go see some live music tonight?"

Scott groans. "Oh, for-- do you at least know who's playing?"

Alex shrugs easily. "Who cares? I just wanna get drunk and grope your ass in a crowd of people."

"Well." Scott throws his head back and laughs, threading his fingers through Alex's shabbily long hair, feeling the strands curl around his knuckles. "Since you put it that way."

"Great vacation," Alex smirks, "or greatest vacation?"

Scott thinks about that for a moment. "Ask me after I blow you in whatever tiny hellhole passes for a bathroom at this bar."

The smile on Alex's face is beatific. "Greatest vacation," he says firmly and rolls off the bed to get dressed for tonight.

Scott watches him shimmy out of his clothes, admiring the perfect curve of his ass, and has to agree. This is definitely turning out to be the greatest vacation of his life.

(Hopefully, this works and has no obvious typos.)

:D It's such a good place, especially when you go for live music. I have many fond memories of seeing amazing bands with good friends and delicious beer.

As someone who reads but does not write fic, I really appreciate any fic that writers share! You guys are amazing to me. Just amazing! So I hope this does not sound douchey but I've missed* you writing them too!

Again, meant as a compliment, not a gripe!

BWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS IS THE GREATEST THING IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. STOMPIN' TOM*! THE BALLET OF JAYWALKING AND TTC TOKENS! BLOWJOBS IN THE BATHROOM AT THE HORSESHOE!

Goddamn, woman, I love you SO MUCH.

*Please tell me Alex makes him listen to both The Hockey Song and that one about the ketchup. Because the look of pure glee on Alex's face while Scott goes :| would pretty much make my entire life.

(Seriously, what do you want me to write you? Name it.)

AND LUKE'S GUITAR. Which is, like, my most favorite Stompin' Tom song of all time besides the Hockey Song. And you know Alex has already memorized the words so he can sing along and further traumatize Scott's delicate pretentious sensibilities. :D

(Hmmmm, Steve and Kono having to huddle together for warmth for some reason and pinky-swearing to never tell anyone they did that? If not, Alex and Grace non-sexy cuddling and affectionate mocking.)

...okay. I am now picturing Alex singing along with the ipod (it's Scott's, but Alex hijacked it, erased all Scott's music, loaded it with nothing but Canadian artists, and then set the language to Mandarin, just to fuck with him), and I am DYING. To the point where I am laughing so hard I wheeze and also end up doing that half laugh/half snort thing. Also, you know I'm putting Stompin' Tom on my own ipod now, right?

(I will totally write that for you! Gimme a little bit. Although, to save the spirit of this post, I'll put it up in my own journal.)
