"Thank you for calling Anthropologie at La Encantada. This is Alison speaking, how may I help you?"
-"Yes, I was looking for a a coffee table book that you might have in stock."
"Yes, what is it?"
-"It is called: (insert name of some book)
"No, we do not have that book.
-"Well, I saw it at your store or another"
"Like maybe at Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel?"
-"No, it was definitely an Anthropologie.
"Was it a different Anthropologie.
-"Yes and you have it online."
"Well, we are a smaller store, so we do not get as many things as our website or other larger stores..."
-"Is there anyway we could have it shipped and sent to your store?"
"No, we can't do that. We don't have the book or a even a sku for the book.
-"Because I know you guys help with shipping..."
"No, we can't do that. We have no way of ordering a book that we don't have. You can always order it online..."
-"But see this is like a 150 dollar book, so shipping would be expensive, and I know you help with shipping..."
"NO, we CANNOT do that. We DO NOT have the book."
-"May I speak with a manager!?"
"Yes, but she is going to tell you the EXACT SAME THING I said..."
-"Let me speak with a manager!!"

So, I go get my manager. The woman proceeds to ask for the book that I already told that we don't have, and tells my manager that she "does not appreciate your associate Alison answering so quickly about whether or not you have the book," (are you kidding me!) to which my manager says well, I'm sorry about that, but our associates are very knowledgeable about our products, and NO we cannot ship the book because we don't have it, nor do we have any way of ordering it.
i'm glad my boss was on my side, because i was a bitch to that lady, but she started it.
I really hate when customers think they know more about my job than I do.
Would she rather have had me put her on hold for eight minutes then tell her we don't have it? because apparently i answered to quickly.
Its not like we are a book store in which i would actually need to look for it.. we only have so many books!!
people are ridiculous.
