Originally uploaded by onthemetro. Another shot from the roof. I wish I had had the sense to put the camera down to get a nice, clean shot. However the slight blurriness captures the light-headedness that comes with drinking beer and talking all night on a rooftop in Paris.
This particular evening Bertrand, the watchmaker who lived across the hall, and I were left alone and we stood at my cousin's window chain smoking and talking as best we could about life and the world and how it all works. That conversation ranks in the top 5 of all time conversations I have ever engaged in--and as I stood later on that rooftop, Paris, the world!, spread out before me, everything changed.
