Fete du Travaille Originally uploaded by
onthemetro. With the exception of a few restaurants and pharmacies, mostly everything is closed in Paris on May 1 for Fete du Travaille--May Day, but only a national holiday. The weather was less than steller and with a lack of options for activities we decided to find a place to eat and take the day from there. We stumbled upon a little restaurant called Nouveau Cafe not far from Montparnasse-Bienvenue with a 7E50 menu. The combination of the music, the fantastically cheap food and an adorable pooch that wandered about the cafe resulted in a wonderfully civilized four hour meal.
Menu: mixed salad, roast chicken and mashed potatos, apple and rubarb tart, carafe d'eau, cafe au lait and delicious little squares of dark chocolate.
