The show was finally over, and all the bands were hanging out in the back of the venue. Jack still hadn't come out about the whole they've been dating for six years thing, and whenever Alex asked about it he would just tell the older boy to be patient.
Zack had brought out the John Mayer CDs, again, but one of the guys from WATIC had complained, so now someone's iPod was playing over the speakers. Someone put it on shuffle, and a really cheesy country song came on. Jack bounced up to Alex.
"May I have this dance?" He giggled. Alex jumped up and took his hand. The only time either boy had taken dance classes was a mandatory 10th grade PE class. They decided they should just wing it, which basically meant that they flounced around and did the chicken dance. Cassadee laughed, and they looked up to see she was filming them. Jack pulled Alex close and just held him for a moment while the iPod shuffled.
"Hey, I have an idea!" Jack tugged on Alex's arm and pulled him back out to the stage they had recently vacated. He tapped the microphone, which had apparently been unplugged. "Fuck this." He muttered. "Hey, everybody! I'm in love with Alex Gaskarth!"
A few of the remaining fans laughed, and Evan and Danny looked down in shock from the top box. Jack hadn't told anybody that they were officially going to come out at Jalex.
"I'm not joking! Go ahead, film this, I'm being completely serious!" Alex just shook his head. It was like the boy who cried wolf; they'd just joked about it too many times for people to take them seriously. Just as he was turning to leave Jack pulled him into a kiss. It was short, but very, very sweet and it proved a point. It wasn't like the stage kisses they'd shared before. Jack was being careful with him, showing everyone that he really did love Alex. When they broke apart Jack looked straight at Alex. "I love you so much. I will always want you, and I will always fight for you. Whatever it takes."Then he walked off the stage, leaving Alex in a daze. After a few minutes, he waved goodbye to the fans, winked at Evan and Danny, and followed behind Jack.
