not_megan has inspired me!
last weekend i went to orange county (yes, baby, the OC!) for a animal law mock trial competition (yes, baby, lame!) my mock trial partner matt and i flew into John wayne's airport and were welcomed by the sun, it was the first time i have seen it all winter. it was amazing! off the plane and to native foods we went, a totally awesome vegan place. then to hunington beach where we happened upon a paintball festival. we arrived at our host's house, a really ritzy place with two basset hounds, macy and bentley who loved us! i slept in the spare bedroom on the tallest and most comfortable bed ever! she was a law student and her husband was a contracter, apprently doing really well because he had an entire back house dedicated to poker. two video poker machines, two tables, a bar...really strange.
we didn't win the competetion but we did get an honorable mention and it went a lot better than we expected. i couldn't eat during the lunch break because we had to argue again afterwards but when it was all done i ate about six tacos from wahoos. the banquet that night was great with vegan lasagne and tiramisu. the sucky thing is that matt and i were the only team who were "animal people". the organizers were too but all the other teams were totally meat eaters, just there for the practice and the resume boost. ugg. one of the teams was late because they stopped at in and out burger! the same team i think didn't eat anything at the banquet and as soon as the winner was announced left to go to a mongolian barbeque!
saturday night matt wanted to see his friend in pasadena so we dorve up there. i had a bad feeling about the sleeping situation which turned out to be totally right. hard wood floors, no couches, no space to even sleep on the hard wood floors and two totally nice but crazy dogs. i ended up at the best western which was a nice break by myself. the next day i picked up the dudes and we went to real food daily in west hollywood where i had an omelete! (yes, all tofu) it was so good!!! we dropped the friend off at drove south to laguna beach where we hung out for about an hour before heading back to john wayne's airport and portland.
