No strings attached, you had said. No strings, but then what was this. You’d given up everything, and now you had nothing to your name, not even him, because you’d said no strings attached.
Not that he’d have been there if there had been. He had a girlfriend, his mother would tell you proudly. They’d been dating for three years. You’d been seeing him for even longer, but no one knew about that. And Yunho made it clear you weren’t anything more than friends.
No, you were his nasty secret. You were his late nights at the office, the lunches with old friends, the nights out with the guys, the musky scent she could always smell on him; you were the thing she feared the most, yet you feared her even more.
She was everything you weren’t, what you could never have. She was the trophy wife he could hold on his arm, the womb that would hold the children you could never carry for him, the love he could never give you.
Life was a little bit unfair, you thought, but then again, you were the one who had said: no strings attached.
