I wrote a couple thousand words of my enormously long KH fic today! It feels good to be in a writey mood again. Therefore, have a fic-ish kind of meme.

pick one of my icons and i will write comment!fic based on the description!

and when the grass grows over me/let me know you still love me lettersandliars February 1 2011, 03:00:01 UTC
the day her father goes to die, he kisses her forehead and tells her he loves her. she is all of seven years old and it's impossible for her to know that it's hardly the last time anyone will leave her behind. orphaned and wide-eyed and heartsick, she sits on the beach and lets them wind blow through her hair. she looks up at the cold, pale moon and thinks, goodnight, mother; goodnight, father.

tidus leaves, too, eventually. she knows he loves her, whether he tells her so or not, but this is what has to happen. everything yuna loves she has to sacrifice, because she made a choice too young and now she has to live with it. sometimes, she thinks that maybe she'd have been better off dying herself, if she'd given in to weakness and let someone else lose love for the greater good.

but yuna doesn't think like that often; she is strong because she has to be.

she wouldn't call it anger, what she feels, or disappointment. there might not even be a word for it--she's not quite sure. but she doesn't resent her absent friends, her family; she carries them in her heart and tells them, alright; alright, but no more.

This is so. so. cute and adorable and sweet and heartbreaking and poor Yuna. And it makes me think of Goodnight Moon, for extra childhood angst.
