Hahaha. Well, I'm really glad you liked the "full circle" aspect, because when I was thinking about how to end it, I knew they had to come back to the beginning. I thought it was a little heavy handed, but I couldn't resist--so I'm really glad you found it unobtrusive!

I also quite like how time passed hereI'm glad you did. I wrote parts of this a very long time ago, and for a long, long time, it was meant to be a prelude to a central (much darker) story. Later, I decided that it had gotten way too long to really be that story. However, parts of this fic still read a lot like summary to me, because initially this whole fic was meant to get H/D into a place in order to do something else. I worried when I reworked it that it still summarized too much--that is, there are long sections in which time passes and things develop, but we're not actually seeing the scenes, just being told that time is passing and things are changing. I didn't think it was heavy handed at all. It was pretty light and subtle. It was significant, of course, and in that way it might've been heavy, but on the other hand I think it needed to be done that way to really bring some kind of closure to the whole thing. :)

I'm terrified of summarised parts in fic, tbh. whenever they crop up in mine I go all D: and pester my beta about them. <.< I think it has a lot to do with how they're written as well. There's a world of difference between 'and then and then and then' and then the sort of floating quality your writing has to it. Floating, ahaha words what are they T_T I think you know what I mean. floating, airy, car window and dust motes :P because I think in imagery, apparently.

Oh and I went snooping and someone said there should be podfic of this and now I'm sort of tempted to try. <.< It'd be the end of me, most likely, but I've been wanting to try to make podfic and because I'm me I always do big impossible

It was me. :) But others wanted a podfic of the story, too. It is awfully long for a podfic but it totally can be done. And there is nothing much better than having a podfic of a novel-length story like this one. If you need a beta for the hp_podfic_fest, do let me know. :)

I can imagine. if it took me 5-6 hours to read just to myself, it's going to take a lot more hours to read aloud and...ohgod, this is going to be massive, isn't it? xD

I do know what you mean, but if I'm not careful, my summary bits could totally float away! I tend to love abstraction, so my summary bits often have a lot of reflection, and then I actually forget the "and then" parts--I forget there are supposed to be concrete events completely.

It would be more than okay with me! People have asked to podfic fics of mine before, but to my knowledge no one's actually ever done it. I don't want you to feel any pressure, though--you totally have my permission and well wishes, but if it ends up being too big of a project, don't be disappointed :o)

Ohhhh, brilliant. I've no idea - but I'm thinking that if I sign up for hp_podfic_fest i'll at least have some incentive to keep me going. researching podficcing now. I'll let you know how goes :)
