The Secret Machines 2/5/05
The Kitty and I went to this show Saturday and I have to say this. This was the best rock show I've ever been to. Autolux and Moving Units were so remarkable.
Autolux, I’m a sucker for Spacey pop rock - Especially if your entire band is drop dead gorgeous. They’re definitely my new favorites. Moving Units played so tight and holy shit, their drummer is fantastic - completely possessed in the moment.
I still get chills when I think of TSM's set. They started with a wall of blinding white lights when they came out and the lights changed colors that matched their songs the rest of the time they played. (Andy would get this) The setting was so intimate and if you’ve been to the Ascot Room, you know how breathtaking that would be up close. Their stage presence is simply astounding. They really, really get into what they play. I've never seen a band so completely unaware of how in vogue they really are. Maybe it's because everyone looked happily strung out and were just content to be there and jam. Who knows? Modest rock stars.... Love this band to death. They made me angry that I'm not cool like them. hahaha Hope to see them many times in the future.
