Hello, Chris. I assume you've received the test results by now. I just wanted to tell you - I'm sorry. I know we already spoke about it, but I truly am. And I'm sorry this turned out the way it did, because I know you had your heart set on a different result.
Elliot knows nothing about it, as per our talk, but he would like to add his regret at missing your visit (and for tripping onto you). He's very curious about what you do and would like to send you some questions, if it's all right.

I was watching the news stories about the Romulans attacking Vulcan and Earth and how they kidnapped you and what Captain Kirk and the Enterprise and everyone did. I hope it's ok to ask about that, but if it isn't here's some other questions.

Chris sat alone at a table in the far corner of the mess hall, staring at the PADD in front of him. He reached without looking for his coffee mug, sipped, and grimaced as the liquid slid cold and bitter down his throat. He hadn't realized he'd been sitting here reading his messages over and over and over again for - however long it took a cup of coffee to get from boiling to stone cold. Staring at a simple salutation he'd yet managed to re-word six times, because he just couldn't fucking do it.
So.
He scratched his jaw, glanced at the chrono. 0132 hours, and he was alone. And that was that.
