If you're not content here, you won't be content anywhere.

It doesn't make sense to me when people think that they can escape their problems by moving somewhere else. Is it naivety? Wishful thinking? Herein lies the problem - contentment is much deeper than your surroundings. You can try to rely on the things around you to make you happy, but ultimately, how you feel inside will be the deciding factor of whether or not you're content. Yes, different environments can make you happier than others, but happiness is so much deeper than that. A true test of happiness is "to be content whatever the circumstances (Philippians 4:11)." Secondly, problems don't stay in one place. They follow you. You know why? Because problems will be in your mind forever and they shape who you are. You can't get away from them ever. You can't erase your memories. You can't "start a fresh life." You can't "start over." You will never get away from what has already happened. EVER. Things become part of you and that's just life. You live, you learn, you deal. And the fact is, your surroundings will NEVER change that. I think the problem is people are too scared to work on their problems from the inside out. It's so much easier to pretend you can escape them by moving. It's just too naive. Too unrealistic. Why don't you try to work on your contentment beginning with what's inside of you rather than relying on your surroundings? Is that so hard?

If you think this is targeted at you, it's not. This is just one of my thoughts that I don't usually share with people but it applies to so many right now that I need to let my frustration out.
