Since the Twitter hit over 500 followers, we decided to give everybody a little bit of background on Let's Get Reckless, and answer a few questions about the site!

Why was Let’s Get Reckless made?

After the Believer’s Never Die Part Deux tour, two friends decided to start a website that has up-to-date information on the band Hey Monday, because no such site existed… yet. Let’s Get Reckless has been accused of copying every single site… except the one that it directly copied. We were both huge fans of the Fall Out Boy LiveJournal community, icecreamhdaches, and based our idea off of it. On the long car ride back from the Troy, NY show, we were brainstorming ideas for a ‘Hey Monday version’. Then we went over our favorite lyrics, picked Let’s Get Reckless, and we were good to go.

What’s the purpose of Let’s Get Reckless?

Let’s Get Reckless has never been about gaining followers or getting the band members to follow the site. Those two factors meant nothing to us, really. Instead, it’s about giving the fans information about their favorite band, or a band that they particularly enjoy. One thing the site prides itself on is the tagline - Here at Let’s Get Reckless, you hear it first. We like the pride of finding a news story or a bit of information before all the other sites and giving it to other fans. We find our information through various search engines and alerts that we have signed up for, and always give our sources when posting an entry. We believe in giving credit where it’s due - we know what it’s like to work on something and have it taken, and wouldn’t that to happen to anybody else.

Who runs the site?

Over the lifespan of Let’s Get Reckless, we’ve had 7 different mods. As of right now, there are 2-3 active mods. One thing that has always been present between the mods is friendship: the mods running the site have always been close friends, and that’s probably how it will remain however long we’re open. For example, the 2 active mods right now (super mod and star power mod) have been best friends for over 6 years, and that’s not changing any time soon. We also have friends who aren’t mods that will post to the site if there’s something newsworthy and none of the mods are near a computer to post it.

Is LGR a team? What sites does LGR support?

A lot of people think that the site is a team - we’re the farthest thing from it. We’re not about choosing favorite members or being “team” anybody. Though the separate mods may have their favorite members, we’re about liking Hey Monday as a whole. We also work hard to provide information. There may be a gap between our entries, but it’s not because we ‘forgot’ about the site - it’s because there’s nothing newsworthy to post, and I’m sure you don’t want your timeline/dashboard/friends page filled with things such as pictures as filler. As for support, we support any site that will support us - you scratch our back, we’ll scratch yours. We’ll support anybody who gives us a Follow Friday, a reblog or mentions our site in any way.

When the site was created, we didn’t care if we got 10 followers or 10,000. The amount of people never really mattered to us: we just wanted a dedicated group of followers. We don’t need thousands upon thousands of accounts following us to know that we’ve accomplished something. The day we hit 500 followers was HUGE: it was a big deal that 500 people cared enough about what we posted and what we had dedicated our time to. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for following the site and caring enough to keep an eye on it.
