I dumped a work problem I’ve been agonizing over for the past week or so onto someone else yesterday. It was very freeing. And then she offered me a job. So that was nice too.
Apparently I come across to people as unusually technical. I sort of knew this but it always still surprises me. I was talking to the CEO of basically a software company yesterday and he said, “Most of our clients aren’t technical like you are. They all have liberal arts degrees!” What kind of degree does he think I have??? I run a program in the marketing department! (He also offered me a job. Yesterday was a good day.) (I’m also not really that technical. I’m organized. I think people confuse the two.)
Belgium is cool. I don’t know why the rest of Europe mocks it. They have good food and speak French and the people are nice. What’s not to like? It’s become my new go-to place to move to. That’s Plan C.
That being said, I think Romania has proven to be the most useful country to me. If you ever have to come up with an impromptu speech in which you must refer to an assortment of landmark images, knowing that Romania has a mini Arch de Triomphe comes in very handy.
I asked a co-worker if he wanted to have lunch together today, mainly because I was thinking to myself, “who’s probably free and might want to have lunch with me that I don’t see all the time?” After lunch he asked me what prompted me to invite him to lunch. And it amused me because that’s exactly the type of question I would ask someone, but that hardly anyone would ask me.
