... the whole thing with Bea is keeping [Tyler] up and about a lot, isn't it.
Tyler's mun: Yes. Yes it is.
good-bad-bad-good.
with a side of Reid kind-of-but-not-fully hitting on Tony
Tyler's mun: Yes.
Which ... isn't making him jealous? So much as curious.
*nods* he knows Reid's coming back to him.
Tyler's mun: His Reid.
Come what may, in some form or fashion, he'll always be his Reid.
oh yes.
and now he's smiling.
Tyler: *shy smile*
Reid: *sidles closer, snuggly*
Tyler: *snuggles him close, lots*
Reid: *snuggles into him, burrowing.*
Tyler: *wraps his arms around him, curling around, him, cuddling him close, tight*
Reid: *sighs a little, curling into him. When he eventually speaks, it's* You know. I haven't really dragged you into anything irresponsible for way too long.
Tyler: *starts sliding fingers through his hair, faint smile* Uh-oh. *soft chuckle, though* What did you have in mind?
Reid: Mmm. *half-closes his eyes, yes, he likes that* Trying to figure out whether it's time to repeat classic favorites... or try something new.
Tyler: *just, very gentle head scritchings, fingers combing through his hair, occasionally stroking down the back of his neck, holding him close in his arm, listening* What's the options?
Reid: *oh yes. He likes that, too. Head shifting slightly to rest his cheek better against Tyler, his hand moving slightly up and down along his back now. Instead of close to clutching* Well. There's always smoke bombs that we can drop on the girls' rooms...
Tyler: *relaxes a bit just because he does like that touch, nuzzling a bit at his temple, into his hair * Eh. Then we can't see anything. *grinning, pseudo-lewd*
Reid: *relaxing is good. Does some relaxing, too. Even grins slightly* No, but it'll be audible. And then they'll talk about it for days. *wider grin* Especially if I fiddle with the smell of the smoke...
Tyler: *chokegiggle, kisses against his hair, hugging him a little tighter with the arm around his waist* You're bad! *but smiling, totally smiling, snuggles him a bit* What were you thinking of?
Reid: Thank you! *mmm. Half-nuzzle against the base of his neck* What's the most obnoxious girl perfume you can think of?
Tyler: *mm. nice nuzzling. fingers sliding through his hair, down the back of his neck, down along his spine* Um... Anything in the mall... anything from that whole vampire movie with the posters, towels, t-shirts, sparkly glitter shit..
Reid: *suddenly starts chuckling* Now... if I can manage to get little sparkly bits with the smoke so they'll stick to people's clothes and faces...
((... poor Harvard.))
Tyler: *gigglesnort* See? I bet you could do that, you'd just need some of that glittery powder gel whatever it is. All of a sudden you've got a stinky, glittery dorm.
Reid: ... and then we can ask, hey, man, are you sparkling?
Tyler: *cracks. up*
Reid: *smirks* so. You pick the stink, I'll work on the rest?
((Caleb: ... *facepalms* ))
Tyler: *grins* Excellent.
((Pogue: *trying not to laugh too much*))
Reid: *head pops up to grin at him* Awesome.
((Caleb: ... so that's how he does it... sometimes? )
((Pogue: I guess. *chuckles*))
Tyler: *grins back*
((Caleb: *deadpan * that work with you?))
((Pogue: *eyegleam* Sometimes...))
((Caleb: Oh, my.))
Reid: *nuzzles into the side of his face lightly* 's gonna be legendary. *a beat, realistically* for about a week.
Tyler: *soft nuzzle back, maybe a kiss just in front of his ear* Maybe two weeks. *softer voice*
Reid: Mmm. *blinks, distracted* Was that a glimmer of optimism I caught there, baby boy?
Tyler: *grins, catching his eye, turning his face a little to touch foreheads* Might have been.
Reid: I'll corrupt you yet! *but softer voice, keeping eye contact as far as possible, then resting foreheads together. Arms solid around his waist*
Tyler: I think it's a bit late for that. *but for once he's not being lewd, just holding the other boy's warm eyes with his, holding him close*
Reid: *softly* Then I'll work on the fine tuning? *but his thoughts getting a bit fuzzier, unimportant. Blue eyes, looking at him like that... um. What were they talking about?*
Tyler: 'kay. *but, just. content. he's been heard, and Reid's feeling better, and they're here and it's all good.*
Reid: *oh yes. Definitely heard. And accepted. and it's made Reid happy. So there.*
Tyler: *he's happy when Reid's happy*
(( :D also, man. Any idea which 'verse this is?))
Tyler's mun: ((I have NO CLUE.))
((I was afraid you'd say that.))
Tyler's mun: ((Are they about to kiss or is it just that they're having one of those not-a-couple moments))
((that's what I was trying to find out... but ... I think I'd go with kiss.))
Tyler's mun: ((I don't think Tyler would initiate it, but he's definitely leaving the invitation open. I think it's ... something. Like, Reid's getting more relaxed but he's still being careful))
((*sighs * I'm so tempted to chuck this in the PoP 'verse. With a discussion coming up, not immediately but soon, of, well, sure, grad schools, but we don't have to go to different places, if we work on it...))
Tyler's mun: ((*sighs* Maybe. I just... I have no idea. But, damn. They're close.)) ((Which means if it is girls' verse it'll hurt all the more when they're apart))
((*sighs * Indeed. and oy the clingage the first time when they're again in immediate proximity. Just... clinging.))
Tyler's mun: ((Coming out of the... the parking lot, the car, driveway, whatever. Coming out of the hummer when he gets home, heading to Reid's place immediately if Reid hasn't called him and arranged to meet somewhere else already))
((his place is fine. He can ignore parentals and it's best just... in private. Except for the other two boys, he doesn't WANT anybody to see, and even them... maybe later.))
Coming out of his truck, then, up the driveway, just about running for the door.
And Reid's probably been keeping an eye out and he doesn't even have to knock or ring or whatever. Just step inside and step into the hug.
And boy, just, hugging as the door shuts behind them and not letting go. Faces buried in each other's shoulders, fingers clutching.
Not letting go. Not moving. Eventually, very softly. "You okay?"
"'m okay." Now he's home, now he's okay.
Quiet, muffled. "Good." Holding on just like that for a bit more, then shifting his head slowly so his chin is on Tyler's shoulder, hand coming up to burrow fingers in his hair. "Okay's good."
Tyler still wants to cling to Reid, coming into the house.
Yeah, I think it'll take him a while to even consider moving upstairs
((I don't think Tyler will cry. He'll just cling. He'll wibble, he'll do the sad eyes, but ... no tears.))
Reid will... swallow and hug tighter and go, "'s okay, baby boy. I've got you. It's okay."
Tyler's fingers curling tight into his shirt. "We're home. We're all back home." Where here, despite the reflexive use of the word 'all' he pretty much means him and Reid.
"We are. We're back home, Ty." Nuzzling his forehead lightly. "I'm here, and you're here, and, yeah. That's... I've got you." Arms tight, very tight. Because. A part of him that's been away is right here with him again. Things may have become a little different, but not his. Not his Tyler.
No, not his Tyler. Never Tyler, and always his, they'll always have this. Part of themselves wrapped up in each other. So he just nods, and snuggles back, and doesn't say anything because there isn't much else to say and 'I missed you' is obvious and girly. "Good." Small mumble. "'s good."
"Yeah." And some more snuggling. Tight and close. And eventually. "Right. Let's get us upstairs so you can tell me all about school and shit?"
Snorts. "School's boring. What's med school like?" But going upstairs, arm around him, because, clingy.
Arm very tight around him, yes, on the way, and upstairs just flops them both on the small couch thingy in his room, and nuzzles at his shoulder a bit, not really letting go. "Mm. Med's about what I thought it would be. The rest is... um. Kinda better than I expected. Except for that first roommate. And the whole hell of getting away from him." Which Tyler's probably heard about while it was happening back closer to the beginning of the semester. But Reid's mouth has started working again?
Wrapping both arms around him when they're settled on the couch, nuzzling back at the top of his head and rubbing his shoulder a little. "Yeah, I remember. Douchebag." Protective Tyler is protective of his Reid. But he likes hearing Reid talk. Means he's doing better.
Small grin. "That's 'cause you've a good memory. I think he's forgotten I exist... and I kinda like it that way. But the administration for something that should've been simple is maddening." Softer, free hand rising to rest on Tyler's shoulder, then the side of his head, over hair and cheek. "Good to be here." Yeah, this is as close to 'I missed you, too' as he'll get explicitly, for now, at least.
Leaning into that hand a little, definitely, snuggling closer. Hugging tighter. Just being here is a relief, feels like something loosening inside of him that he's been keeping wrapped up. Being touched. Being held. The body heat of another against his body, in whatever way, something he never would have thought he'd miss until it wasn't there anymore, and it wasn't like you could tell anyone about it. No one would understand. "You're just saying that 'cause..." he cuoldn't think of anything to say to finish it off. Not anything funny, anyway. "... 'cause it is."
But the pause is funny. And Reid giggles. "Damn right I am." Shifts his head sideways to be able to look at him. Not just any body. The body that yours knew how to fit with because it's known how to snuggle with since forever, and even more closely and definitely for year after year in the same room. The sound and rhythm of breathing, familiar. The smell, familiar. "There have been times when I've thought that my brain must've been MIA when I thought ... there and there were actually good ideas." But he can't say that where he did go was a mistake. Not anymore. But that it was separate, yes.
Snort. Smile. "Nah. It was a good idea." Reid likes it there. Likes med school, for all that Tyler misses him like crazy and aches with it, he's totally behind Reid one hundred percent. Every part of him, even the part that hurts. "You're having fun, man. Besides," shrug. "We're all back home now. So we've got this, it's not like we've lost anything for good." He's still there, to snuggle and be snuggled. He's still there, and he's not going anywhere.
And Reid misses him insanely, too. Constant dull ache even when he's having fun. One of the collection. Worse, much worse at times. But it's okay no. "'course we haven't lost anything for good, you doofus. 's me. 's you. 's us. I'm not digging up the thousand-bloodhounds-and-thousand-swords line, but you know it." yep, grinning. Clinging still, very much so, but now he's starting to get the joy that Tyler's there, right there, not on the phone, not a few hours' drive, not just somewhere safe. Here.
Pause. Blink. Grabs the reference in his mind, because that grin is distracting, it's shades of the old Reid, bright-eyed and wild and all kinds of fun, and then he slowly grins back. "So... that makes you Buttercup, right, blondie?"
"Shaddup." But he's laughing. Quietly, and still so tight, but laughing.
"As you wish." Smirky. Skipping right past what that actually means, because it's true, if maybe a bit heavy for the moment.
Rolls his eyes, thwaps his fingers along the side of Tyler's head, but very lightly, more just the motion than anything else. And then meets his eyes for a moment. Acknowledging it... a bit. "So. What's up in the boring school?"
Makes a face at that, but it's exaggerated too. And when Reid's eyes meet his, yes. It's there. Same as always, if maybe more acute now for missing him. Shrugs, ducking his head, that shy smile. "Not much. I mean, we're tearing apart books and stuff. Sitting around rooms paying exorbitant amounts of money to be lazy and talk." Makes a face. "And no one knows how to throw a party."
Sniggers lightly. "Hey, if you would at least actually tear the books apart, that'd be a start. For a party." Hand stroking lightly though his hair, impish grin. "Have you started teaching them how to do that already? Or are you waiting for me to show up and make them explode?" The possibility that some of the explosion would be literally real was way too great for comfort. Usually.
Snickers, leaning into him a bit, half closing his eyes. "Man, if you do show up, I am going to keep you way too busy to make books explode."
"... I meant the books to be torn up. And people to explode." Smirky. "You'll keep me busy, hmm?"
"Whichever." Grins. "Yeah. I will."
Burrowing his face against him a bit, again, but not stopping the motion of his hand. "Then I'll have to show up and see what you have in mind, won't I?"
Oh, now he's glowing. Grinning brightly and maybe hugging Reid a little tighter just at the prospect. "Guess you will." Burrowing in right back against him. He could have a Reid during the school year! YAY.
Oh he likes the sound of his voice for that. The shift in the way he's holding him. But it also makes him blink. "Tyler. You do know that you could've come up at any time. Or called me over at any time. Right?" Not like they hadn't talked a lot. Or anything.
Not that it had occurred to him to drive over, either. Embarrassing. Considering just how better it was when they were ... around. Dammit.
"... yeah." It hadn't occurred to him either. Which his tone of voice totally indicated. They'd talked a lot, over the phone, probably Reid and Pogue had too, probably Pogue and Caleb. "I mean, Pogue probably ... when he can get away from work..." He was starting to realize that none of them had thought to go visiting the others. Maybe Caleb. Maybe.
Well, Reid had come home for a weekend? But, um. Yeah. "Y'know. For a bunch that's spent a hell of a lot of time around each other, our first-semester organizational performance totally sucks. We must do better."
"It was shock. It was the shock of separation." Which, he's only halfway kidding. "We'll have to get everyone's schedules together and set up shifts or something. Go bother Pogue at work, make him wear his boxers on his head again. Go show people Caleb's wild side." And, obviously, visit his boy. Natch.
Reid wrinkles his nose. "Well then, shock sucks. I do not approve. However, scheduling don't sound that bad. At all. But then again, your ideas often rock." Grinning wider. "Now I really wanna see Pogue with his boxers on his head again."
"Then clearly we have to make this happen." Grins, hugs him, one hand rubbing his shoulder. "He's a working man, now. Doesn't get breaks like we do, we should go gloat."
"You know that'll only mean he gets a chance to when we're in the same situation and he's settle and can get vacations, right?" But smirks, snuggles tighter yet. Um. Moving away? Whazzat? "We have to, and we so will."
"We so, so will. Remind everyone he's not nearly as all grown up as he acts." Mm, Reid snuggles. he's all for Reid snuggles. Loves them lots.
"... you mean he's acting grown up? Since when? That's gotta be fixed!" Annnd yeah, Reid snuggles he has plenty. They might both get hungry and thirsty before those run out.
Tyler just bursts out laughing at that. God, he could kiss him. He'd missed him so much.
Reid grins very very widely. Boy he loves making his boy laugh. His boys, but his Tyler, definitely, too. Then straightens his face. "What? What did I say?"
Reid just gets tickled for that.
And Reid wiggles and gasps and tickles back. "MAN!"
Tyler just giggles, wriggles around. Maybe tries to sit on him, on his hips, knees pinning his arms in.
Laughing, trying to wiggle out, partly successful. Probably one arm mostly free. "Hey, that's struggling for unfair advantage... okay, it isn't." Grins up at him. "Been keeping up in shape! That's good."
Grinning back down at him. "Damn right I've been keeping in shape. It'd be a crime to let all this go to waste." Gesturing up and down at himself. Maybe squeezing his thighs a bit to ... well. Yeah.
Makes a small wiggle, then moves quickly to shift away from under him and budge him off balance and hopefully wind up on top of him. At which point he'd wrap his arms around him again and burrow his face into the front of his shoulder and say muffledly, "It'd be a waste."
Wrapping his arms around him again, hugging him tight. "Uh-huh." Burrowing his face into his hair, wrapping his whole body around him, pulling him down onto him. Just holding on.
In a few moments, pops his head up to look at him, face a bit more serious. "It really would." one hand shifting only to come up to run the back of his fingers along his cheek, while his own ears take on a bit of a darker hue. "I... I'm, um." ... and he's actually not said it out loud, and has no idea how to call it. But doesn't want to give mixed signals and disappoint. Nor is he pulling away any little bit.
Tyler just sort of tilts his head at him, smiling slightly. Not quite sure what's up with Reid, he isn't ... somethings changed. More than the usual. Or he'd be on him already. But, it doesn't look bad. Reid looks happy. So he just nuzzles his hand a bit, gives him a questioning look. "Are you being a doofus again?" arms hugging him lightly.
Small snort, snuggling against him. "You were being doofus earlier. Me, I'm just..." small shrug. ".. seeing somebody." Make of the fact that it seems to be present tense over the winter break what you will, Tyler.
Eyebrows up. Interesting. That's... well. ... No, that's interesting. If it was just a fling it wouldn't stop him over winter break. So he'll ask. "Huh. What's she like?" Pause. "He like?" Not like he hasn't seen Reid flirting with guys not them before, though he's never seen Reid go half as long with a guy as with a girl. That he can remember, anyway. One hand lightly rubbing up and down his back, other hand through his hair.
Small smile, face softens even more, and he stays snuggled. "She. Does research for her thesis. And teaches undergrads. And Stephen King is de-stress reading for her." And he can talk for hours. But for now, this is what comes out, in combination with relief that Tyler's reaction was curiosity and not immediate disappointment. Just because. Being back together is too good and he doesn't want to spoil it.
Sex is fun. Sex with Reid is a whole hell of a lot of fun, but it's by far the be all and end all. Sometimes just cuddling like this is good. Especially when he hasn't had it in weeks. Months. It feels like forever, the longest time he's gone without contact, and he'll happily live without the sex if it means he still gets Reid time. He's not so naive that he doesn't know what being jealous would do to his friend. And his friend's new relationship. "Stephen King, huh?" Snort-chuckles. "Let me guess. She was walking around with a book under her arm?"
If Tyler's not had any contact for the duration and Reid learns it, he'll get thwacked on the head. Really? None? But for now he gets treated to a half-sheepish smile. With a grateful tinge. And definitely cuddling, god, he doesn't even think about moving away, and doesn't want to think about it. "Actually, she was carrying a bunch o' stuff and it kinda almost toppled away. I mean, everybody walks around with books under their arms. It's grad school, remember?"
"Yeah, but some books are more likely to get your attention than others." Light rib poke. Light chuckle. "So, wha'ts she like? What's her name?"
"Alya. Name's Alya. She's... dark blonde and with a sense of humor and mischief and likes outside, and likes tea. And is... very smart. And I didn't even try to hit on her. It just... happened."
He's just smiling at the sound of Reid's voice. Happy, but with a kind of surprised wonder to it. Yeah, this girl's different. "Probably why it worked," he says quietly, stroking fingers through his hair again. He's seen Reid and Pogue both flirt enough to know that the one who never really tried had it easier than the one who tried too hard, and be able to tell which was which. "She sounds... really nice."
Quietly, snuggling up. "She is. And, what, are you saying I couldn't date a stupid girl? I think a full third of my dating experience goes right against that statement!" But yes. He's a little more relaxed yet. Just... all over the place. Which is completely typical for Reid.
Snort. "Good point. Although if we're talking like that, I'm going to have to ask you how long it took you to find a smart one." Someone who could treat him like he deserved. Nothing but the best for his Reid.
Fish out of water impersonation as he tries to find something worthy of saying to that.
Light tickle. Very light, more of a nudge. "I'll give you a hint. It took you maybe four years at Spenser and four more years at Harvard."
Does smile. A bit. And wiggle a little. "Apparently!"
Nuzzling at his hair, at his forehead. "'m glad."
Is... honestly still a bit startled that it might be in the 'working' category. Thinking of it that way is... odd. They're Alya and him, and trying to explain that, for all they've talked and done everything clearly and gradually and with understanding... um. Strange. Not bad-strange, just... strange. But, small smile. "Thanks. It's... " Strange. Nice. Wonderful. Amazing. "... different."
"Yeah, well, sometimes, different is good." And in this case, different meaning that his friend was calm and content and talking about a girl he'd been seeing... and for long enough that they were still expecting to go strong over winter break... that was very different.
me: Blink, then soft chuckle, nuzzling against his shoulder. "Definitely good."
"You realize I'm going to have to come up there and meet her, now, yeah?" But quietly, letting Reid veto that if he wants. Doesn't want t o put any pressure on his friend.
Small nod, acknowledging the thought, but. "That'd make sense. Except for the whole thing where I'm seeing a professor. Technically. Not one of mine, but it could still be a pain in the ass. So we're kind of keeping a low profile as far ... that part of... things goes." The relationship part. Which didn't make such seeing impossible, just clarifying that Reid wasn't roaming around campus with Alya at his arm. Although wasn't that a nice image...
"Eh," Tyler shrugged. "Just coming up to see my old friend and meet some of his new friends. Nothing wrong with that, right?" Eyes wide, bright, and guileless. Yeah, he got the idea. It's not going to stop him from teasing them if or when they were in private, though.
Softly, eyes crinkling at that brightness in the blue eyes. "Nothing wrong." What would ever mean that one of them couldn't tease another, in private?
Leaning up to kiss his forehead. "Exactly."
Looks up at him, eyes open and grateful, just. a moment. Then ducks his head down and snuggles against him again. Softly. "You still okay?"
Arms tight around him, snuggling him close, stroking his hair. Closing his eyes to rememebr that look. Reid, happy. Really, truly happy. "Yeah. I'm okay." It was a very good thing.
"Good." Just... settles. Content, and out of steam for a bit. And up to Tyler if he wants to talk more. But snuggling is still on. Definitely.
Snuggling is about Tyler's speed. Just holding him, being held, feeling his warmth and familar weight and smelling the scent of him and this is home. Right here. With his boy. Eventually he might murmur something like "Happy looks good on you."
Deadpan, but quietly, "are you ripping lines off not-too-old TV shows?" Shifts, cuddles. "Not like I've been unhappy all the time before, y'know."
"No." Mock-defensive. "I would never." Cuddles back. Smiling a little. "No, but. You and girls... hard to find the right fit. Seems like maybe you did."
Chuckles softly. "'course you wouldn't." Fingers playing lightly with Tyler's sweater. "We... do fit. It's a bit... disorienting. And good." Yes, he can talk for hours about her, and doesn't think he can explain Alya, not really. Then again, just the way that he is talking about her probably explains more about her than any actual words might.
One finger tracing under the curve of his shirt along his neck, over his back. It does explain a lot. Not a lot about her, but for Tyler it explains everything about how he feels. "Yup. Sounds like a keeper." And if Reid doesn't keep her it better be for a damn good reason.
Hey, Reid's all for keeping her. Just never against her will. Shifts slightly and snuggles again with that touch, it's pleasant, yes. "I hope so, yeah." Slow curve of his lips, and then impersonates somebody older asking. "So. Have you met 'somebody interesting' among the books that you've been tearing apart?"
Snortchuckle. "You're not going to be a grandfather yet, old man." But then, more seriously. "Nah, no one interesting. Couple of cute girls, but..." Shrug. There was a girl here and there. No one special.
Can't resist. "At the same time?"
Cracks up. "Almost, man! Almost..."
Wide grin. "Oohh go you! Next semester?" Teasing. No, Reid's not really change, no.
Grin. "You never know. Classics majors get funny ideas."
"... and you have to nurture them to make them move from ideas into reality. But I can imagine." Wrinkling his nose. "Although talking about the classic... things, I've no idea why every single teacher I've had of Latin is ... moldy. And boring. Not how you should teach a language!" A beat. "Even a dead one. I think."
He can't resist. He just can't resist. "What, your new girlfriend can't teach you any of your desired tongue?" Not language, to-- yeah.
"That is a mutually exploratory learning process, man. Not related."
"I don't know, I've met some pretty cunning linguists..." badly suppressed giggles.
"Pre---" muffles his own giggles against his shoulder. "Ohman. Puny, man. Puny."
"Hey! There wasn't nothing about it that was puny." Mock indignation. Between chorling.
"Uh-huh..." Yes. This feels good. So very good. "...not until you count... Latin."
Can't speak. Too much giggling.
