Man I had a really awesome day....

I just got back from a jazz concert that I went to by myself.

No one else wanted to come cuz it was raining outside and they were
studying for finals. I wasn't gonna go at first....but I was like what the
heck....why not....so I looked up the directions online and was on my way.

The tickets were normally $25-50 but it was my music teachers group so I
got a free ticket. =)

Also earlier today I ran into my Raza professor from last semester.
That guy is just so awesome....he’s so interesting knowledgeable and deep,
I don’t know how else to describe him. He’s definitely my favorite teacher here so far.
His name is Jose Cuellar. He's a short little Chicano with a white mustache and beard
and he talks in this real kool Latino accent...kinda like coach Varela (man I miss that guy too).

So, I was so happy that I ran into him though cuz I've actually been planning on emailing him
to ask some questions on a book that I read which he had suggested. The book was The
Lessons of Don Juan A Yaqui Indian by Carlos Castaneda.

This book is just filled with a bunch of trippy events that Carlos experienced with Don Juan
somewhere in the deserts of Mexico. Carlos originally went on these meetings with Don Juan
to learn about the plant and psychotropic drug peyote....but Don Juan always had other plans
and ended up teaching Carlos more about life, himself, the world, nature....ect.

It's debatable if Don Juan is a real person. Many just say that he was a figment of Carlos'
imagination while he was tripping on peyote. So I asked Mr Cuellar what his opinion was....
What I had forgot was that he had went to school with Carlos as a graduate student at UCLA.
It was so awesome to hear all the stories and descriptions he had of Carlos, because not
only did he know him, but he was his friend.

I feel so much closer to Carlos as a writer now. I feel like I'm just a person away from
knowing him. I had already felt so connected to the book, but now I do even more
And I'm really excited to read all the other books in his series.
I actually was saving the last chapter for a special time, but now I think I'll
just read it when I find some time.

When I finished talking to Mr. Cuellar, I asked him if I could email him to talk more about
Carlos and ask question. He said he would love to. This totally made my day!

.....I got to talk to one of the most interesting people I know, I went to my fist Jazz
concert, and I got my Netflix....what more can I ask for!

I know it's been a while since I've updated.....so I plan to update after finals with some pics
and stuff....sorry if this all was boring to u =(
