So I got on Special K today. We did another test cause the T 30 didn't quite work out. We had to do 20 100s on 1:45. Oh my gosh. I died. Or at least I thought I was going to. And this was after an hour of dryland (which included running backwards for a lap which is the hardest thing I have ever had to do) and part of a workout. So the first three I thought, no way, I'm gonna die. But then I got into a rhythm. And I did it. And now I hurt incredibly much. Ow. I didn't even know I had hip muscles that could hurt.
Well, I know I complain about swimming a lot, and many people ask me why I still do it. And with good reason. So here, I have put together:
The 10 Reasons Why I Like Swimming (In no particular order, contense subject to change)
1. My coach -- I know a lot of people hate him, but I really like him. I think he's a great coach and the fact that he has four daughters means that he knows how to deal with girls. And he really cares about us as individuals and now just athletes, which I really appreciate.
2. My best friend on the team, Andrea -- I never see Andrea when its not swim season which is such a shame because I love her so much. She is the best darn 500 counter ever. And I like hanging out with her during swim meets and practices and eating entire bags of goldfish after swim meets because we're so frickin' hungry.
3. My team as a whole -- The girls that I know and love from swim team really arn't the girls that I would know if I weren't on swim team. I mean, we've got the jocks, the nerds, the crazies, the cool kids, the goths, the emos, and its not like I want to be in any other group than mine (my 10 = favorite people ever) but its really nice to get to know them. Also, contrary to popular belief I think that we really do have team spirit. And of course there are those on the team that hate each other (any come to mind?), but you're not rooting for them to fail because if you are then you're rooting for the team to fail.
4. Running in dryland -- All my running this summer has really paid of. And I've found that I really enjoy it.
5. Finishing a puke set after not having puked -- Enough said
6. Swimming the 500 in meets -- I get so nervous in meets so swimming the 500 really calms me down. My favorite part is when everyone starts falling behind me the last 200 and I just pick up speed and shoot to the front. It's the most amazing feeling ever.
7. Spaghetti Fests -- Again, enough said
8. My drag suits :-D
9. Not getting my period for 3 months (sorry to anyone who that offends, but believe me, it's really nice)
10. Swim season being over and having so much time!!!!!
