this is a seriously long post. im sorry, but i had a lot to tell you guys. i guess it all started with
this is the truck that would later catch on fire in nebraska
while other people were busy packing, i was still saying goodbye
but some people came over to say bye. people like shayan,
chrissie,
and tasha!
these pictures pretty much define our relationship
man, i miss my tasha. shes reporting for mission duty today.
"dude, did you just try to slip me some tongue?"
"yes, yes i did"
goodbye house
now, its on to ohio
first stop, the Bell's
i love that little girl
this is the kirtland, ohio temple. this was the the first mormon temple on the planet.
then we went to nauvoo, illinois
basically we just took the mormon pioneer trail. after the saints got kicked out of ohio, they went to nauvoo and built up this beautiful city out of a swamp.
this is the pioneer game of stick-pull.
this is me beating jeremy in stick-pull with just one hand
AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
my dad is the horse whisperer
this is the prophet joseph smith and his brother hyrum riding to carthage jail where they would be killed. "in life they were not divided, in death they were not separated."
brothers and brothers
this is carthage jail. and thats window just joseph fell from after being shot.
this is the room where the 4 men were being held. the hole is still there in the door where the bullet came through and struck hyrum in the head.
after holding his brother's lifeless body, joseph stood up in front of this window and was shot from both sides and then fell through onto the ground into the midst of the mob below.
DIE JEREMY!
wait! come back!
ok, so parley street is pretty important. so just like new york, ohio, and missouri, the church members were finally forced out of nauvoo. they had honestly taken a swamp and turned it into the the biggest city in illinois. (bigger than chicago)and now people were making them leave their lives, their homes and their temple behind. so everyone packs up thier handcarts and walks down parley street because the street goes right down to the banks of the mississippi
walking down that street and seeing that river was just so sad. to know that thousands of people walked the same path and crossed that big river having absolutely no idea where they were going is daunting.
joseph had died and brigham was the new prophet and as their beautiful temple burned behind them, all they new was that somewhere across that river, god had prepared a place for them.
they new that a lot of them would die along the way. and a lot did. but they had lot of courage. courage i wish i had. ive got a lot of love for those people
goodbye nauvoo
ok, so this isnt even half of my journey. ive still got a lot of story left to tell. but, for right now, i gotta go to san diego. but ill give you the rest later.
