intuition.

"i've heard this word quite a few times over the last few days. far more often than normal, at least. what is intuition? by dictionary definition, it's an "immediate apprehension or cognition"-- at least, that's my favorite of the three other similar ones miriam-webster offered me. for me, intuition has become more personal. suddenly, my incurable sense of intuitiveness is off the richter (black eyed peas?) within the last week, i met someone who greatly changed my perspective on things. i believe that in only those few days, they did not only make me a more positive person, but also inspired me to pursue the dreams i'd lost sight of in fear of them being too far out of my reach. i've realized through others that this spark of intuition is not tremendously incommon, but that it is one of the most incredible things one can experience (my mother, for example, shared a story this morning about her intuition when she met my father.) while people are trying to make sense of what they say, do, or feel, they are ignoring what is commonly referred to as their "gut feeling". that gut feeling is intuition.

have you ever met someone-- i don't care how; whether it be in person, on the phone, over the internet-- and just... known? maybe you knew you would become the best of friends, the worst of enemies, maybe you knew you would marry them, hate them, anythingno matter how farfetched it seems in that moment. that's your intuition. it was trying to tell you something and, chances are, you were laying in bed trying to understand why you were feeling so strongly about this person who you barely know and who barely knows you. now, be reasonable. i'm not talking about seeing someone in a movie or hearing someone on the radio and being certain that you are soulmates, i'm talking about someone like you. someone-- for the lack of a better term-- normal."

pretty sure that's the beginning of my essay for composition. i had to pick a word and write a three-page essay about it. mine is already really late, but i told her i'd have it in to her, so... right. anyway, i'll post the rest when i finish writing it. (:
