...how we tend to see what we're looking for, even when it's not there. The reviews are decidedly mixed, but hardly disastrous. While Treo 650 users are advised not to switch to 700w, most reviewers give it high marks for the Today screen functionality, phone book integration, and ease of synchronization.
The reviews are only mixed in a sense that Palm hardware gets raves, while Windows Mobile software, for the most part, doesn't.
On the other hand, it's also true that Time, for one, has mostly good things to say about the 700w. The problem is that the reviewer concentrates almost exclusively on features as opposed to usability. Yet even he couldn't help but notice the "coldly businesslike" feel of Windows Mobile.
As far as I'm concerned, a product that gets an "A-" for features and a "D+" for implementation (beyond the mere window dressing in the Today screen) is a disaster. But then again, that's exactly what corporate buyers are looking for as this would be yet another complicated gadget that would keep the IT departments looking useful and busy.
