keeping resolutions

Random thought: I kind of miss being part of a community and discussing similar interests and (sometimes conflicting) opinions. I'm thinking getting into something new like a fandom or a game would help get me into the spirit of discovering new things. Or perhaps I'm just looking for an excuse to find new icons.

Spending the weekend in bed since the exhaustion from the past two weeks have finally caught up with me (not to mention the crazy weather last week) and I'm now feeling flu-like symptoms. I'm trying to do first aid in the form of bed rest, chicken soup and lots of tea.

The good news is that I've had the chance to sort through and upload a bunch of photos and in the process maxed out my Flickr account. Still, it's fun to be looking back at pictures I've taken a year or so ago (the not fun part is when I realize how much weight I've gained since then :/).

And to document in webspace that is not as fleeting (or liable to get lost) as plurk or facebook here's my top three photography resolutions for 2011:

[1] shoot more B&W
- whether digital or analog doesn't matter (though I think I'll favor the latter for this one. There's something oddly satisfying seeing texture and grain in B&W film).

[2] use f1.8 more
- or just use the f1.8-2.8 range more. which means I might need to get a new lens for this since my 85mm doesn't really work that well for all situations.

[3] take more portraits
- I just find pictures of people more dynamic in a sense. Every time I look at a portrait of someone, there's always something new - whether it be the expression in the eyes, or the way light illuminates the subject. In contrast, my landscape photos seem flat and static. Like you've seen it once, and that's that. Of course, next in this train of thought would be to learn how to use a flash, but I think I'll save that one for next year.

and there's also resolution [4] which is to upload photos and blog about it in a timely manner orz (which is the point of this post._.v).

anyway, here's to more photos taken and shared in this brand spanking new decade, and hopefully my photography skills improve as a result.

The rest are on Flickr.
