Going dress shopping with my mom and sister on Saturday afternoon before our Canada Day bbq (yeah, a couple days early, but Canada day is on a Tuesday this year, and people wouldn't want to stay late because of work the next day). I'm pretty excited! I'm not sure what I want yet, but I hope to try on a million different dresses to be sure I've found the right one. I've warned my sister and mom to bring kleenex, for we will probably all cry.
I called the shops we were hoping to go to earlier this week, to make sure they didn't require an appointment. Only one did, and this is how the conversation went:
Me: Hi, I wanted to come to your store to try some dresses on this Saturday, do I need an appointment?
Them: Yes, you do.
[proceeds to take my info]
Them: What is it you're looking for?
Me: Well, I'm not entirely sure, but I'd like it to be under $1000.
Them: ...oh. Well, we don't order dresses under about $1500, so you'd have to get something from off the rack.
Me (already knowing the answer to this question): Oh. Well, what sizes do you have on the rack?
Them: 10s and 12s.
Me: Oh. [laughs] I guess we'll have to cancel that appointment then.
Them: Ohhh...that's too bad. What size do you wear?
Me: 16 or 18.
Them: Ah. Okay then, thanks anyway!
Yeah. We can adjust for too big, but it's much more difficult to adjust for too small. And I ain't payin' $1500 for a dress. Good thing there are lots of other places I can go. And there's one place in Mississauga that has all dresses from 2-22 on the rack, and advertise that their dresses are in my price range. They've also got bridesmaid dresses too, so I think we'll go there when we go BM dress shopping.
Must get off bum and figure out a DJ...J and I are undecided about how much we want the DJ to talk during the reception. I'd like him to pretty much lead the dancing part of the reception, and J would rather he shut up and the MC do the entire thing (note: find an MC). I'm not talking about having someone who yammers the entire night, but having a charismatic DJ would hopefully get people on the dance floor. I'm not too picky though...I'd like to think that if the bride is out there, everyone else will be too :). Yeah, I know, wishful thinking.
