Observations for the day...

Oct 02, 2003 12:26

- My walk from Union Station to Queen street every morning, and back after work, always smells like urine. Oh how I love downtown Toronto.

- For some reason, even though they see you standing in front of the elevators, some people like to go and press the button anyway. As if I was just standing there waiting for someone to come and press the button for me.

- We have pink ribbons for sale at reception here (where I'll be for the day, the receptionist is sick) for breast cancer research. This weekend there's a CIBC run for the cure for the same thing. One man looked at them and said to his collegue "Pink is not my colour". Hm.

- It really shouldn't be this cold on October 2.

- Today is my nephew's 12th birthday. 12. Wow. I can't believe he's 12 already. Time flies.

- A few people on my friends list (as well as people in real life) are having some big changes happening to them, most of which are good changes. That's wonderful. I'm glad to see things are finally turning around for a lot of people.

- I feel pretty boring sometimes.

- People that work at financial and government institution call centres seem to not know what's going on. I hate having to do things twice, especially if it costs me late fees because THEY screwed up. The national student loans people found a problem in the fax I sent them on September 10, and contacted me last night, the day my payment was due. Because I signed it Amy and not Carolyn (my first name), which is the name on the account (even though I've told them NUMEROUS times to make sure they know I go by my middle name and to note it there), they didn't switch the bank account I use for direct payment. So. This means that they tried to withdraw my loan payment from an account that doesn't exist anymore, which will bounce back saying NSF, and if they frickin' charge me for that, I'll walk there and beat them myself. They want me to send another void cheque. I told them, well, the void cheque has Amy printed on it, not Carolyn. Oh, well then just fax them a copy of two forms of government-issued ID that says Amy on it, and they'll change the account name to Amy. Um, all my ID says Carolyn on it. So now what? I'm going to write a letter, plus my void cheque, PLUS a copy of my IDs. Fax it all together, in one big heap. And I'm also going to write on it "PLEASE CALL IF THERE'S A PROBLEM, YOU KNOB", or something more polite.

money, rants, work
