It's basically very similar to the common law legal system of most of the western nations. If you commit a crime, you will be perused and punished. Punishments obviously vary depending on the severity of the crime committed, but none are particularly pleasant. The city is patrolled by a large, organized police force which are lead by some of the most capable men and women you'll find anywhere.

It's best to stay on their good side.

Back where I'm from we have some aggressive demons that try to attack civilians.

There's always people in danger so they hire demon hunters to slay them. It's a dangerous line of work but I like helping other people.
