Rant Series: II Who Has Your Support?

It's an election year. President Obama vs. Mitt Romney. I honestly didn't watch the debate last night because I was really sick. But I heard it thru my walls. I get that people aren't happy with the president for whatever their reasoning may be. But when you are a teenager/young adult, this is your first year voting, and all you have to go by is the opinion of your parents? Why are you even going to the polls?? Can you not think for yourself? Why are you repeating the nonsense that you heard from your mom and dad during their talks with their friends who fall in that percentage of rich people whom taxes are going to be raised to help the economy? Your family is the family that doesn't have to worry about health care or financial aid for your college education. But what about your friend who's parents make more than enough but refuse to help out their child because they are "of age and need to be responsible". What about the small business owner who has given you your first job and if you vote wrong then he could go out of business for taxes being raised on him so much that he won't afford your pay check every two weeks?? What about the taxes that go to your brother and sisters school that help fund their supplies? What about the money that goes to paying city workers who pick up roadkill and put up new road signs or pave the streets so your car ride is smoother and safer? How can you say the election doesn't affect you when you clearly live in this nation? There was a lady who called into c-span this morning and said she agreed with what Romney said when he called 47% of the population lazy. When asked her occupation, she stated that she was on disability. Um...hello??? Did you not know that he wants to cut out government assistance? Did you not know that disability falls under that catagory? What about your children lady? Or the man who called in to say that he supports Romney because he is against gay marriage and the bible speaks on gay marriage. Excuse me sir but aren't you being a bit judgmental? You want to put the lords word in your argument to do what? Sound religious? Now im ashamed to even say I'm a Christian. The Christian faith isn't about condemnation. It's about believing on something that will provide insight and strength when you need it. It's about helping others and loving others and being the best possible person you can be in the lord. You can say all you want about gay marriage but at the end of the day it's not your life. It's theirs. I have my opinions on it. Two of my bestfriends are gay. I love them to pieces! Why? Because they are amazing. So what if they like what they like? It's not me. It's not you. It's them. There are plenty of gay people who get more prayers answered than those who judge them. Why? Because God honors your heart. Not your religiously judgmental beliefs. As a young African American female who loves Kpop and my Hispanic friends, I can say I have never judged anyone based on beliefs and culture. I can honestly say I've never looked down on someone for what they lack and dont have because I've been in bad places in my life where I needed those people. Those people helped me more than the so called Christians did. No I'm not saying that I'm voting the way I'm voting because of the color of my skin or his skin. I'm voting the way I'm voting because my children will be safer in the future. They will have the chance to get an education if I can't provide them with one. They will have equal opportunities. My grandchildren will be safe. I'm pretty sure my children will be mixed race but being as they will have black decent means that they will be looked at a bit different than others. I want to ensure that they will be able to be an honor student. A grad student. An artist. A writer. A teacher in a prestigious school. A heart surgeon. A business owner. The president. That's what I care about. If you honestly believe that in your heart that cutting out financial aid and government assistance programs and raising taxes on the little man will help better the nation then that's all fine and dandy. I'm not going to think any different of you. But I will know that I won't regret the decision that I've made. How do you guys see it? Are you old enough to vote or are you a registered voter? And if you don't live in the states then how are you perceiving this from the outside?

Oh and since I didn't participate whole heartedly in the selca party wifey threw, here is another contribution
