Bad luck, Langar again

Jul 08, 2007 23:45

One day after my quiet birthday, I langar-ed.

It's really not my fault.

The brand new white Honda Civic 1.8 VTI in front of me emergency braked right after a right-turn because another asshole driver filtered into his lane from the 2nd lane without warning.

I applied my emergency brake too and kissed his bumper.

Both of us got out of the car to inspect our damages. The driver, an Ah Beng with tattoos showing from his tees and berms immediately lighted a ciggy.

Jessie's okay except for a slight dent in the car plate, the white Civic is okay too, except the bumper came out a bit. I pushed it back and it looked as good as new.

I suggested to the Ah Beng to just split and forget about the incident since there is no visible damage for him. He refused and flipped his clam-shell phone to call his friend here, puffing profusely while on the line.

I asked him how he would like to settle the accident when he hang up. He said that I was in the wrong and I should pay for his damage. I cannot deny that I am right since in Singapore, as long as your car bang another form behind, you are at fault. He then said he would want to repair his bumper and pointed out a small scratch which I thought was not possible to be caused by me because it is at a indented area of the bumper and way higher than my car plate.

He said he would make a claim from my insurance.

At this moment, his friend arrived in another Honda and popped out his ciggy the moment he got out of the car.

Beng A described the accident to Beng B and pointed at the ambiguous slight scratch on his otherwise perfect bumper. Beng B immediately advised him to claim insurance.

I offered again to settle with a hundred bucks in cash and he laughed me off.

I thought of my decreased NCD and increased premium next year and increased the stake to $200.

Again he waved me off, saying that $200 is not enough for whatever repair he is going to make. I then try to persuade him to send his car to a workshop for assessment and if it is lower than $200, I would settle with him without making a claim.

He agreed and we parted after exchanging our details.

Down inside, I know he is going to change the bumper and charge to me.

It's just plain bad luck.
