I like divas.

Wanting to post something, and thinking about my latest musical thrills, that came to my mind.
I like divas.

When you hear them, when they appear on stage they catch your eye, you're mesmerized, fascinated, and it's just as if it was an instant between brackets. Almost a metaphysical experience. Like feeling there is something more.
Because they are something more than alive.

They are themselves and totally come to terms with it. Just bear with them. Or don't. They don't care about it, they don't even realize it.

I think I wouldn't mind being a diva...

Maria Callas, of course, THE diva, Yma Sumac, the Princess of the Incas (if you don't know her, you're missing one of the beauties of this world ! http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=mm4qc9qt_00&feature=related), Um Kalthum, the 'Fourth Pyramid'...

People kneeled on their way.
Breathtaking aura, an accurate sense of staging, and a heavy taste for jewels and make-up... ;3

Which reminds you of ?

The diva of Nagano, Isshi, of course ! (sorry, that had to happen... x'3)

You know, Isshi and Um Kalthum have a lot in common.

One had a mousseline scarf , the other has a 'sensu'  in their hand, same effect !

...and they both can look a lot like your grand-mother early in the morning...

Mockable though admirable. Divas ! ^^

And this is Cedric Myton, from the 70s reggae band "The Congos".

They came to Pontivy in May, I think. And I went to see them, because, you know, when something  -anything- happens in Pontivy, you just go. Because you don't know when that will happen again next time...

So, the Congos.
I swear it, that night, I've seen God.
... or, well, at least, if there's something like a god, it must look like that man ! That extremely tall and emaciated black man, with his white dreadlocks and beard suddenly appeared on stage dancing like a wild prophet. He was wearing some kind of African looking poncho that swirled around his powerful body. His eyes, his singing, his gestures were sharp and true. Chanting their words, dancing to the insistent rythm, gradually taking off his clothes and letting appear his gnarled, dry, musculous, ancient body. He was the 18th century slave snatched from Congo, he had lived hundreds of years, and at the same time was younger than any of the rasta youngsters in that hall.

Yes, I've seen God. And I don't think it's merely because most of my fellow concert attendants were smoking strangely perfumed hand-made cigarets.... ;3

and if you don't believe me.... a report about them from French TV :
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=MqtC4PxU71M  (where you learn that rastafari drums can put a spell on the Queen of England ;D)

Iggy Pop !
Him, and the Stooges, were at St Nolff Festival last saturday. I must admit I didn't know a lot about them, except their legendary name, epileptic Iggy on stage,  and "I wanna be your dog"... I even remember confusing Iggy and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers... shirtless and jaw-gifted maybe... that was long ago, but anyway ! ^^"

I guess he didn't change at all since the early 70s. The envelope, maybe slightly, not the attitude and what's beyond. Still the same deconstructed movements and quixotic staging. And well, the music too is not bad.. haha !

So, since that, I 'cultured' myself a bit thanks to Youtube (haha-bis). Which made me bump on David Bowie too. Lately I've seen his first movie : "The Man who Fell to Earth". It was on TV, so now I NEED to find some kind of legal or not copy of it ! Awesome psychedelic depressive glam science fiction ! 8D anyone, help ?
That search made me browse his filmography, and realize he appeared too in.... "Arthur and the minimoys" and "Spongebob"...................... hm ! And in "The Hunger (1983), a revisionist vampire movie with Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon." Huh ? what you learn reading Wiki !

And a little one more.

Moriarty.
Everyone knows "Jimmy", I guess. Well, everyone should.

Seen them at "Le pont du rock" festival in Malestroit in July.
Their music comes from very far inside of you and your collective subconscient if you know Miss Ingalls and Lucky Luke... ;3 And it's good music. And they dance with their double bass, and she sings with a stuffed deer head in her arms.
That's enough to fascinate me !

Finally, the absolute diva : Cyprienne, extremely beautiful, extremely out of reality, extremely gifted to catch your attention, and able to make extremely lots of noise to get what she knows she deserves.  83
