If any had attempted to cause me to believe that such conflicting emotions were possible as I have felt this fortnight past, I should have mocked him and told him to take his predictions elsewhere.
The awe-inspiring power to which I was presented on Christmas Day had taken up my attention when it was needed the most. I do not understand how such a thing as this could cause me to truly ignore the most important part of my life.
I am bereft of any hope for happiness I might have had, and insult has been added to my injury. Miller was right when he said that there are no brothers, only traitors.
For falsehood now doth flow, and subjects' faith doth ebb,
Which should not be if reason ruled or wisdom weaved the web.
The dazzled eyes with pride, which great ambition blinds,
Shall be unsealed by worthy wights whose foresight falsehood finds.
