A strange lull...

It seems as though classes have hit a low point. The excitement of the first week is long gone, replaced by the initial stress that comes from an excess of work to be done outside of class, and as we have readjusted ourselves to the increased workload, we have settled into the monotony that accompanies these weeks prior to the fall and winter amusements.

Not that I am at all complaining. This is the only time during the year when the common room is quiet, the library full, and the grounds deserted. Unfortunately, though, one cannot say as much for the halls of the castle. What with some persons insisting on shouting matches everywhere from the Great Hall to the tenth stairway in the East wing, not to mention the journals, I am driven outside to find any sort of peace.

reflections_of, you have been silent. I do hope that what I did to Miss Umbridge did not result in you losing any sleep.

Or hearing.

hem_hem, I received your delightful gift exactly when it would have been most convenient for me to receive it. You have impeccable timing. Miss Black the Younger, I do apologise. If a Scouring Spell does not remove the stain that Miss Umbridge so thoughtfully engineered on your robes, I know of a potion that may do the trick. Though I feel I would hardly be the person you would first approach for such a thing. However, if he cannot for some reason find the time to concoct the potion for you, I offer myself.

Miss Umbridge, I would watch my step if I were you.
