had a marvelous, super fun and busy spring break. i got to visit baltimore which was indeed very charming =) we went to the national aquarium, had some awesome seafood dinners, walked everywhere and enjoyed the lively bar scene. and i got to spend a day in washington d.c. it was a great time to go since there weren't too many tourists out yet. we were able to go up the washington monument without really waiting at all, and look at stuff in the smithsonian museums without battling crowds. we even saw matt damon filming a the next borne whatever movie. (whatever the third one in that "bourne identity" series is, i could look it up but i don't feel like it.) great to be able to spend time with kristen and other friends i rarely see.
at home i mostly hung out with the family. went to church. jill and i went cross country skiing at days river and it was gorgeous! there was still a ton of snow in gladstone. didn't make it up to marquette at all, which is odd and kind of sad, but i felt real busy. i ran around applying for a ton of jobs i don't even really want, except this ymca day camp gig that i actually have an interview for next weekend - so wish me luck! they are opening a beaner's in esky - so i guess if worse comes to worse i can try and get a job there.
i've been feeling really apprehensive and almost negative about things lately and i'm trying to shake that. there are so many great things going on in my life i don't know where it is coming from. i've made a vow to be more optimistic and not let one little thing overshadow all the amazing things.
i'm actually excited to be back in the u.p. for the summer. i haven't been back there since summer 2004 for any extended period of time and i'm really looking forward to being around the beach all summer and spending time with my family and alone in the serenity of the woods/middle of nowhere. i'm hoping to do a lot of michigan type things like camping, kayaking, hiking, etc. i want to do a pictured rocks cruise!
umm as far as law school goes i am still dealing with some uncertainty but am leaning toward staying at msu (all their bribes are really working - full ride, free laptop, etc.) i'm trying to set up a dual masters program with the law school and the new public policy grad school at msu and it seems like it is going to be a go so hopefully i will be here, in east lansing *sigh*, pursuing my law degree and a masters in public policy. and then when i am all done i will have almost no loans and the mobility to go anywhere - and i swear i will be moving far, far away.
i love michigan - the lakes, the wineries, the snow and all the sports that come along with it, the open green space, my family ... etc. so i guess a few more years won't be that bad. though i do, really, really want to move far away for awhile.
