I picked up one of my old notebooks from the self to jot down an idea for a children's story, and came across some of my old poems.
*written Aug. 1997
The sleepy demon lingers on the border of insanity
She can't remember where she has come from
And she can't decide where to go
Should she fall into the bitter-sweet release of insanity?
Or should the demon throw herself into the "real" world
To hide behind a smile
And try to decipher if the beauty is real
She weighs the pros and cons,
But she is tired
The demon falls on the threshold.
*this one was more of a song... written in 1995
Invisible Tears
See that girl there in the crowd
Yeah, that's her. The one that doesn't speak up very loud
See that half smile on her face?
Well you know, don't you know there should be something else there in its place?
You say it wouldn't ring a bell
Well she keeps her secrets very well
Even when you get to know her, you still can't tell
That she's living in a personal hell
Can't you see that she is shaking?
Can't you hear her silent heart breaking
From all her fears?
Can't you see her invisible tears?
Her whole world's falling all around
The sky is crashing to the ground
And there is nothing she can do
She's tried so much for you
She's crying out loud silently
But no one answers her plea
Is the world that she sees
Really to be?
Can't you see that she is shaking?
Can't you hear her silent heart breaking
From all her fears?
Can't you see her invisible tears?
She's standing silently by
As she watches her friends slowly die
What can she say?
They can live their lives their own way
They must have thought she was a basket case
If she thought she could save the entire human race
She's just one soul in all of time and space
She's the quiet girl with the innocent face.
Can't you see that she is shaking?
Can't you hear her silent heart breaking
From all her fears?
Can't you see her invisible tears?
(bridge)
See that girl there in the corner crying silently?
See that girl there in there corner trying to break free?
Shackled by the chains of time
Caught in a world of prose and rhyme
Restricted by her mortal body
Hiding her fears with secrecy
Fighting to keep her sanity
Oh why can't she break free?
Can't you see that she is shaking?
Can't you hear her silent heart breaking
From all her tears?
Can't you see her invisible tears?
* I remember writing this as one of my year book quotes to people in 1995
Life is like a story being read
By the side of a child's bed
Each day a new page waiting to be told
With each page the mystery and magic unfold
*written May 10, 1996 -- I used it in a vampire story that is half written somewhere...
I'm crying in the rain
So you won't see my pain
So you won't recognize my fears
That have haunted me for years
I'm weeping in the storm
Because the burden I have borne
Is too much to bear
But it is the beast and I am its lair
*written June 1996
I wish I could understand
Why life and pain go hand in hand
I wish I could answer why
Before the reward we all must die
I suppose it's all part of morality
Human beings trapped in reality
*written July 2, 1996
Immortality enamours me
Eternity lures me
Mortality obscures me
Reality detours me
*written Oct. 19, 1996
Pity the Ghost
Vague
mockery of
a human
form;
eyes that
aren't
see through
us
and
beyond,
mouth open in an
insatiable
moan
insatiable moan
insatiable moan
insatiable
silence.
*written Jan. 19, 1997
Sedated dreams
of forgotten times
and people who were never born
Exiled behind the lines
of reality forsworn
Cry the tears of innocents long dead
Fight the fears dwelling in joy and dread
