here's the official american book sleeve for deathly hallows. at first glance, i thought the two were working together. then i looked more closely at the hands. Harry looks as if he's summoning something from above and voldemort looks like he's holding his hand up in an attempt to push it away. that's interesting.

then i noticed the curtains. the first words that came to mind were "beyond the veil." then i thought of the prophecy and a freaking bright light bulb exploded over my head.

"neither can live while the other survives."

do they get seperated from their bodies and sent beyond the veil? do they remain physically alive while their soul has to do something in the land of the dead?

maybe the curse-link lets them just walk through the curtain on the dais and not die. if voldemort's horcruxes keep his spirit at least partially on earth, couldn't he walk through on the first place? if it did destroy his body, he could do the do the whole bone, blood, flesh thing again and just lose one of his extra soul chunks.

i wouldn't be surprised if harry and voldemort "die" pretty early on. then the two dead'ns gotta race each other to get back to life. dumbledore and harry's parents and every dead person inbetween are the cheerleaders, and then we (that is, the children whom the books were originally written for) learn a wonderful life lesson about why you should be good and true and full of love during life because it might come back to bite you in the ass if you ever have to get help in the afterlife.
