This weekend was (approximately) our six year anniversary. Chris planned a surprise day for me on Saturday.
We started our day with brunch in the east end of the city, Leslieville (how appropriate!) at a great brunch spot we had heard about called
Toast Restaurant. It was an adorable spot, so cute with toast stamps dotting the ceiling and celebrity signed toasters throughout the restaurant. I loved it! and the food was delicious.
I had the:
The Monte Cristo..... Shaved black forest ham and Swiss cheese on challah dipped in egg batter and lightly fried Served with potato hash and house salad
Chris had the:
Cranberry Cream Cheese French Toast .....
Slices of challah stuffed with cranberry and cream cheese with fresh fruit and pure maple syrup with a choice of bacon, farmer's sausage, peameal bacon or potato hash
Chris said that the name of the restaurant was a hint for our evening activity. I was intrigued, and confused. I thought maybe another Calphalon cooking class...maybe a wine bar? I couldn't be sure..
After brunch we had the most amazing lattes I have EVER had at the
Mercury Organic Espresso Bar. Holy crap. What a great coffee. And they have a blog! Cute.
So....from here we hang out for the afternoon (truth be told, we went to Costco, I needed some contact solution).
For dinner, we went to the Bier Market as every restaurant in the St.Lawrence Market area was rammed with Leaf's fans pre-game eating.
At this point, I was starting to realize that we were going to see the Canstage production of the
Rocky Horror Show !!!!! The toast made sense! What a great night. It was the most fun I have ever had in a theatre! So rowdy and fun. A great surprise for me and my love of the RHPS. So fantastic.
What a great day!
