This is interesting; because according to www.behindthename.com, the origin of my first name Clara is: Medieval name derived from Latin clarus "clear, bright, famous". Well, technically, that's my middle name (as in the name that I was given at Baptism), but I get addressed by that name almost all the time now. Only my family members still call me by my first name. :P
