so its past that two-month mark since i've updated here. i still occasionally come back to read everyone's journal, but its kinda at the end of my favorites list, and i never feel like i've got the time to post anything worthwhile.. or not so worthwhile.
anyway, i thought i'd update now. i've been thinking about this post for about a week now too. see, last weekend, i got a brand new car. yes, this spoiled bitch's daddy bought me one after the eagle talon crapped out for the 80 billionth time. brand new black 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT. its beyond awesome, and i'm treatin the thing like its my first born. its crazy to think that within a month that i got that eagle talon, i was already callin it "my piece of shit car." not this one. it is beyond nice, and so much more than i could've asked for. i'm probably having just as much a hard time believing this as you. but here she is, in all her glory:
its a 2.7 liter, 6-cylinder, 172 horsepower, 5-speed manual, and somehow i've already put over 900 miles on it. it was mine with less than 20 miles on it, drove a good 120+ miles while in houston last weekend, and put another 600 on traveling between houston and lubbock. i LOVE driving this car. its fast, very clean, and has tons of features. in fact, here's a list of 61 improvements i've counted since getting rid of the talon:
headlights are bright enough to see the road
both foglights are in tact and they work too
right turn signal doesn't blink three times fastes than the left
the hood opens when you pull the lever, and it stays up by itself
underneath the hood, everything is clean
nothing leaks
nothing burns or makes burning smells
it doesn't overheat
temperature gauge is accurate and doesn't jump around sporadically
speedometer doesn't randomly quit working
odometer is accurate and has 174,400 less miles on it
there is an extra trip odometers in case i go on two trips at the same time
steering wheel is completely in tact and easier to grip (leatherbound)
horn blows w/o having to break thumbs jamming them into buttons
horn doesn't sound like a sick bird's sneeze
driver-side seat now able to recline, is fully adjustable, and no longer sits crooked
seat no longer hurts my back
i have adjustable lumbar support
seats and interior now sporty mesh and leather
passenger-side seat has a nifty pocket behind it
more room
number of cup holders jumps from one to two, plus a square hole (for cell phone, etc)
larger center console holds more cd's and whatnot
theres a special holder for sunglasses that i don't yet own
passenger-side sun-visor stays in place, and doesn't swing down and around on its own
vanity mirrors on both visors (in case i wanted to put on makeup while i drove)
cd player works on command and doesn't require luck or the use of other objects to fully insert disc
once inside, cds and cassettes don't jam and get stuck upon ejection
both map lights work and turn on when the door opens
trunk contents easier to see in dark thanks to a working light
i no longer freeze thanks to working heat (and well working it is)
temperature is programmable and automatically maintained
ac vents can shut and won't leak outside air
with the push of a button, i can now see the outside temperature, in case i were wondering
hatchback stays open w/o use of limbs or props
gas tank cap isn't ghetto-rigged w/ wire caps
no more nasty smoke spewing from exhaust
the dual exhaust system is better, and sounds cool w/o being too loud/obnoxious
two more cylinders means more power means faster
brakes don't squeal like an old school bus
e-brake actually works on inclines
brand new paint, shiny, and no rust anywhere
i can unlock the doors remotely, and even still, the keys don't get stuck inside locks
doors shut w/o squeaking or loud slamming racket
when windows are up, it doesn't sound like they're down (its quiet, no air leaks)
water-tight! no more wet spots inside after car washes or storms
wiper blades don't go kerrrggghhcchkkk when wiped across windshield
instead of just one little line, entire rear window defrosts
outside rear mirrors defrost
driver-side outside mirror doesn't point at the sky (i can see now) and isn't held together w/ masking tape
no longer missing any hubcaps. in fact, i now have much nicer 17 inch wheels w/ low profile tires
suspension that won't break your bones on lubbock/houston roads
rear axel doesn't rattle when i drive 70mph or faster
whole car doesn't violently shake when i go faster than 80mph
no evidence that someone put out their cigarette on the passenger window tint and seats
shift knob is much lower and more comfortable
cruise control doesn't randomly fail
owners manual not missing
car is now protected w/ an alarm system
no more repair expenses for 10 years or 100,000 miles
its CLEAN!
but yeah, its amazing how this new ride is relieving all kinds of pressure off of mine and my parent's shoulders. only worries i got now are making sure it stays clean, and that i have enough money to keep it full of gas. its slightly less economic than the talon, but i can't complain when not a cent is needed to keep the damn thing running, and for at least a long while now.
farewell, old friend..
