holy crap one hour!
last night i won at pool, but lost a poker.
i also went to see the new swarm of angels/ntx+electric group. good show indeed. well, it was great. the ideal houston show. solid opener: the jonx. touring band: the starlite desperation. main event: indian jewelry. i wish the jonx were selling merch, i would've bought some. i'm gonna miss that sound of theirs, even though they seem to be losing band members. before last night i was all pumped about seeing the starlite desperation until i realized that i had seen them before. this band opened for the rapture and brmc when they came through houston earlier this year. oh well. but its funny, this tour they're on they're supposed to be the headliner. in fact, they were headlining this show until indian jewelry took the bill, and took the spotlight. oh well, they wern't that great. that indie rock kinda stuff fused with psychedelic rock at an attempt to revive that classic rock sound. it worked just a little.
indian jewelry were just great. kinda reminded me of tribal/native american festive sorta music, but with lots of chaos, noise, screaming, and anything else you'd expect from these guys. i wanted to take pictures, but they played in the dark, with just a strobe light and projector illuminating their presence, playing loops of garbled video and static. can't wait to see swarm again later this weekend. blah, i'm carrying on far to long with this..
less than an hour from now bernie will be in houston. i've been counting down this day for four weeks, and its felt at least twice as long as that. i'm done with workin at the bay, nearly met my goal but made it close enough, and i've got lubbock in my sights. bernie and i are gonna do everything we can possibly cram into this weekend while we're both here together, and then its road trip through texas. ahhh, speaking of bernie being here soon, i gotta get to the airport...
