tonight i came to houston, for just the night. over the past few days i've developed the urge to go see this show i've been seein and hearin about for a while. so i went, and i'm glad i did.
paris texas and communique opened for murder by death and these arms are snakes. not too bad of stuff, though hardly mentioning when compared to the second half of the show.
i've heard lots of things about murder by death, but had yet to hear any of their material. after i hearing them perform, i regret not giving them a sooner listen, as they were so fucking good. as good as everyone's been speaking of them, if not better. they're harmonic but loud, alt-country but heavy. they're a great blend of sounds, with songs about drinkin whiskey and the devil. good stuff indeed. so i bought their album. yum.
and then there was these arms are snakes. this is the band i came to see, though obviously not the case with the majority of the crowd, as most people left after murder by death. but they missed another great performance. taas was so damn fun; gritty melodic hardcore from the seattle scene. more good stuff here. but it was chaos, and seemed to haven went faster than it did. well worth it though, the price, and the drive to houston and back to the bay.
