alrighty, so i've kinda been missing in action, at least here on lj.
last weekend, vicky came to town. lots o' fun. lots o' drivin. lots o' shoppin. i put 800 miles on my car, easy. went to katy twice, went to galveston, went to campus twice, went to humble, went downtown several times, went to sugarland, and of course lots more elsewhere and everywhere. busy busy weekend.
friday, of the many things accomplished that day, we went to the beach. it rained, was pretty overcast, smelled, was windy, but still fun.
so saturday night came rather quickly, considering how much we were trying to do before the death cab for cutie show. but it was, afterall, the largest reason vicky came that weekend. i was holding those tickets for months. but we were running late, got lost trying to find bryan, and finally when we got to the venue, parking was confusing. god i hate numbers. so we're walking up to the door, and we pass ben kweller hugging and talking to fans. i was kinda confused, as by this time, he should be on stage performing. yeah, we were that late. but when we get to the door, there a lady announcing that the show had been canceled. freakin biggest disappointment of all time.
turns out, numbers don't have their own sound and lights for shows like these. so they hired a third-party company to go in and handle all that stuff. well they fucked up, caused some electrical problems, etc. etc. plus, there apparently was water on the stage from a leaking a/c unit, which added to the problems. so after everything blew up (not really) management finally decided that it would be too unsafe for the bands to play. now i have a real reason to hate numbers. but i did get my money back, which i really really needed.
so vicky, bryan, and i ended up just cruisin round the city. we ended up walkin round downtown, then found a delicious and cheap 24hr mexican place to eat on westheimer, and then went to see kill bill vol2. my third time seeing it. and it was just as good. but this time around, i payed more attention to the details. the stuff you're probably not supposed to notice. editing mistakes and other quirky tidbits. still good though.
wednesday, blonde redhead. another show i've been holding tickets for. vicky was back in lubbock, but i hung out w/ bryan some and his friends. it was a nice show. surprisingly, i really really liked the opening act, the secret machines. almost as much as blonde redhead. but that place was fuckin packed. i had my nice little place up front, then they announced that cars were being towed. so of course i had to check on my piece of shit. can't afford it being taken. and so just as quickly i left my spot, my little hole filled right in.
but blonde redhead were excellent. their set was almost two hours long, including an encore, which was super nice.
alright, so after the show, we went to this place to eat, late nite pie. yeah i ate a slice of pizza, but that day, my brother actually commented on how much weight i've lost, so i didn't feel too much guilt. but the weird thing was i recognized someone there i hadn't seen in a long time. this girl, jackie, who graduated a year before my time in high school. anyway, she was a hipster, back before i knew there was such a thing. but she did newspaper and was friends w/ my friend molly and so i kinda might have liked her but never knew her. but it was unusual seeing her. i didn't expect her to recognize me, and i knew she wouldn't know who the hell i was, had i approached her that night. but i dunno. whatever.
today's something i should've discovered sooner:
i yell when i'm drunk?! i know i act like a fool, but i yell while doing so? please someone confirm/disprove these charges.
