Writer's Block: I'm The Boss
I saw the Writer's Block prompt and knew immediately what I would say;
If I had the resources to start my own Business it would be a book shop, not the ‘Borders’ or the ‘Barnes and Nobles’ of the book shop-world, oh no, my book shop would be the kind of place with big bean bags, dog eared favorites on the floor in the Children’s Corner, laughter and chatter, none of this silent solemnity that you so often find.
For me, a book store is a place to discover a passion for the written word, a book shop should be the sort of place that you can’t wait to get to, a treat on a miserable Sunday, with story-time, poetry readings, Coffee in over-sized mugs. It should be the sort of place that reminds you of your dream living room with big sunken leather chairs that smell old and comforting, ceiling to floor bookcases made of old, dark wood…
THAT is the sort of book shop I would open.
Books are a passion of mine, and I would love to think that if I ever did manage to open that book shop I would be responsible (in a round about way) for getting children, AND adults to realize their passions too. I discovered books at the Library and the thing I remember about the them was the way they made make me feel, the excited rush, the anticipation of another favorite Author waiting to be discovered and cherished, everything read and re-read a thousand times, a comfort to go back to when you’re having a bad day or when you need to escape your own life for a short time…
Wouldn’t you love to share a passion like that with other people?!?
