Old Friends...

I lived in London until the age of 14 and the whole experiance was so bloody traumatic for me, that I just kind of let myself drift away from any contact with anyone I knew who was affiliated with London. Not maliciously, I just felt it was better for my sanity.

So, I had a bit of a shock a couple of weeks ago, when I checked my (rarely checked) Friends Reunited Profile to find a friend of mine who I haven't seen since I was 11 was trying to contact me. She'd moved to the Isle of Wight when we were both really young and we wrote to each other for a while but we drifted apart as children tend to do.

Anyway, we've been texting and calling each other for a while, but with J and I being so busy at the moment, we hadn't had a chance to get together. So, Saturday night, she and her Husband came down to our Town and we all went for an Italian. It was great; I was so nervous, I wasn't sure I'd recognise her, if I'd have anything to talk to her about etc, etc. But I did, and we did, and it was wonderful.

I'm not an advocate of going back, I love my life as it is, and I've worked really hard to get to where I am. My past is firmly, where it belongs and usually the thought of meeting up with someone from 'before' wouldn't be something I'd be interested in at all. I don't know what made me make the exception, but I'm glad I did.
