You know what you need? Video Catnip. It's this VCR tape for cats with fantastic music for us, and for the cats: birds chirping, squirrels tryn' to get a nut and the like. My cat sits transfixed, cautious, waiting to get his chance to pounce. I wonder when he'll realize they're never coming out of the TV! It's really the cutest thing and I put it on when Finnigan is particularly frisky or pissing me off for whatever reason.

lisa-- I HAVE THAT!

om man that is so funny. my sister was the first person to tell me about it, three years ago. kiki is totally disinterested in it now. roo still watches it, but i think after two years, she's finally figured out that the birds will never come out of the tv. :(

Awesome! My boss gave it to me after her cat almost killed himself eating the cords and wires coming from the TV. My cat is beginning to get bored, but (confession) I still play it for the music and background noise. I feel it's one step away from pathetically buying Solitudes tapes of whale noises. Should I worry?

no! i put it on sometimes "for the cats" too!
oh man. it's almost like we are crazy old ladies.

it's funny, cause roo always liked it more than kiki... and after she got into it, she would watch anything i put in the vcr. she definitely watches movies now (edward scissorhands, labyrinth, and the muppet movie are her favorites) and she will stare at the tv if we play video games. it's pretty funny.

i guess you can get video catnip on dvd now... it has a loop feature so you can leave it on ALL DAY.

"oh man. it's almost like we are crazy old ladies. "

I know! This might be too public a place to confess that I stay home [insert social event here] from to watch my cat watch a tape of a bird! So much for being cool!

I'm all for embracing the old lady thing. I just put up a birdhouse on my fire escape and made my mom send me birdseed via post. I missed a barbeque on patriots day to bake cookies, and spent my last $40 on paint by number paintings of dogs on eBay. I think my bf is freaking out but is too nice to criticize anything ever.

I'VE BEEN DOING PAINT BY NUMBERS OF HORSES!!!!!!

and i bake cookies EVERY WEEK.

i want a bird feeder, but we built plant shelves over my window, so now i can't get out to the fire escape... (its not a "real" fire escape anyways, so its not like we will be trapped if there was a fire..) i've been trying find a little bird feeder that sticks on the window with suction cups, i know i had one when i was kid, but i can't seem to find one anywhere.

and my BF, he mostly just laughs at me and rolls his eyes, then goes skateboarding. HA.

That's nuts! I didn't actually do the paintings of the dogs -- I became interested in the concept of people selling their finished paint-by-numbers on eBay. I'm fascinated by the debate of craft vs. art (and especially, as an aside, how it's affected women artists throughout the years) so this kind of fits. When you think about it, completing a paint-by-number that someone else designed might be a craft, but would the design be an art? Would it be a collaboration where both were the "artists?" Anyway, the whole idea of someone selling a finished paint-by-number was so kooky to me I absolutely had to have some. I may start a collection. The wierdest ones are the high-priced p-b-n nudes! Whoa, I say to that. . . also, great bathroom decor! haha

Well, when I bought the birdhouse I was stupid and expected the birds to BYOF, and so far they don't dig it. My mom sent me a net kind of tube thing you put birdseed in and hang up. She calls it a sock.
