Funny, when there was very little to write about, I had been prolific . . . now there is almost too much going on and haven't had the luxury of reflection . . . I'm really happy with the way everything is going -- not least of all a delightfully drama-free social life that includes parties, shopping, galleries, brunches, movies, plans for going out of town.
Next weekend is
Brimfield Fair with Sharon and hopefully Eric too . . . we have plans for "making stuff," as he's been poring over my
ReadyMade magazine archive all month. I'm really into the slide lamp idea, though the only slides we have access to is of Jake's old band. No offense, but I was thinking more along the lines of found family vacation photos, or something fake-nature, a gimmicky aesthetic I'm not yet tired of.
I definitely need to channel my energy into something productive since I haven't felt like writing or painting . . . I've begun knitting again, and it's still making the old
"sports injury" act up. My theory is that it's too stupid, too absurd to cater to, and I defiantly attended my knitting group at work on Thursday. It was funny, only my boss and I showed up this time, so we got to chat for an hour about non-work things, which I always enjoy. She moonlights as a llama breeder when she's not being a top executive, and she chatted about her plans to have the llama fiber spun into yarn to knit with. We're talking some intense fiber fanaticism, people! I think it's great.
The latest is an all-girls trip to Vegas over Labor Day -- I can't wait! Everyone else has their tickets, so I hope it's still cheap by the time I can spring for mine. It's going to be awesome.
Oh, yeah -- the 4th! So much fun seeing everyone and making a recipe I always wanted to share. Wish I hadn't missed out on the swimming part of the day. But hey, if that's my only regret on a day when I had started drinking at 3 pm, then I'm doing alright! Hopefully tonight will be some down time, maybe a movie or something. I need to unwind and just be lazy.
