I has a petticoat!

Check that sexy thing out.

Apparently I always wear navy on the days I finish bits of my ballgown. Interesting, since that's what colour the gown itself will be.

This one was tough. I accidentally got three yards instead of four, but as you can see it worked out all right. I just didn't have anything left over AT ALL. I also was sewing happily across those pleats, removing pins as I went along, when I realised that my bobbin had run out of thread long ago... I had to redo EVERY. SINGLE. PLEAT. I hated that. But it's all good, no worries.

Oh, and I had a heck of a time with the twill tape.I ended up replacing the pannier one (which was very long) with some yarn (temporary! Until Hobby Lobby reopens!) and using it in the petticoat instead.

But I was proud of my sewing machine. I decided to name her after Musichetta a day or so ago and today I realised she chews up and skinny strips of white fabric and makes them her shreddy beeyotch. It made me laugh.

In other good news, I got email notification that the stuff for boning my stays have shipped, I heard that the Boosh will be on Jimmy Fallon and Chelsea Lately next week, I used gift cards and a sale at Rainbow (not the sandals, by the way) to buy three pairs of flats for $11, and my brother actually complimented my petticoat when I wore it downstairs to get some milk. My brother. Complimented it. His words were, "I still think you're being weird as heck, but I gotta admit that thing is kinda cool." and then he teased me about how I would have been a slut in the 18th century. Which is so far correct. Oh! I also finished hemming my chemise today, so next stop: stays! Probably next week sometime, after I get back from Québec.

my ballgown, pictures, sewing, squee, the mighty boosh
