Les, I gotta ask. I've been reading JC for a couple of months now, went back through the archives and everything, and if this has been addressed I must have missed it. I'm dyin' to know- what's up with his appearance? Is he wearing a costume, or is he some sort of being from some unnamed elsewhere?
Or is it something that we're not supposed to ask about?
Regardless, this has been a delightful Herge-esque adventure strip, and I'm enjoying very much it just the same.
There's a reason he looks like that, but I'm still working it out. My editor at Dark Horse has been after me to explain it, so if I get to do second book, it'll probably start to be addressed in there-- the plot I have in mind has to do with Jonny's family history.
As for nobody noticing that he looks like that, I can't really explain it. The whole "odd-looking character goes unnoticed" theme seems to be a recurring one in my work, and I'm not sure exactly why. Probably a symptom of deep neuroses on my part.

If your editor insists tell him to put in his own explanation at the end of the book, while making it clear it's not your explanation.

But then, that'd take the fun away from Les, so I guess it's not so fun. For Les.
