Not that I've ever really been that avid of a consumer - but lately I've been getting the urge to cut it back even further. It's better for the Earth and I'm getting tired of tripping over crap I don't need. My problem is that I don't ever get rid of stuff. I have a terrible personification problem and develop very strong emotional attachments to inanimate objects. To demonstrate the insanity, I submit Bob, a creature-shaped stick I picked up off the sidewalk one day probably close to 10 years ago.

Long after the novelty wore off, Bob had become so much like part of the family in my mind that I couldn't get rid of him, even though I tried several times, only to dig him back out of the trash. I MOVED BOB from one residence to the next. Finally, he broke his tail and (gosh, this is hard to talk about) I forced myself to put him down (the trash compactor in my building). Now do you sort of understand why I have a clutter problem? In the last few years I've become really good at not letting new things in. Now the goal is to little by little, get rid of the Bobs. It's a One Day at a Time sort of endeavor.
Also recently, a special HOA assessment has emptied my savings account and breathed new life into my need to reduce consumption - not only to help protect the planet and free myself from clutter, but also to build back up the stores so that I may one day again be able to post something to
my travel blog.
This finally brings me to the main reason for today's post. I've decided to grow out my hair and donate it to
Locks of Love. Now I'm at about 4" of the requisite 10".
